Kolkata have consistency on their side after playing with starting lineups that look similar to what they were working with last year. They will need to overcome their early rollercoaster of results this season to be back in the hunt for another title.
Sunrisers have shown glimpses of their potential, particularly in their first game of the season. They have firepower aplenty where the batting is concerned. They have a handful of experienced fast bowlers too. Their goal will be to put together a complete team performance.
The teams have both won and lost to start their 2025 IPL season. Two points from this match will keep them moving upwards in the table.

Anrich Nortje is still unavailable for KKR. Wiaan Mulder has already come in for Brydon Carse at SRH.
The hot and humid conditions will be a treat for the batters on the Eden Gardens wicket. The split between pacers’ wickets and spinners’ wickets on this ground is a split of 55 percent to 45 percent. Teams have largely opted to bowl first at this ground because of conditions.
The battle of the wicketkeepers is a battle of two players who have been on two ends of the extremes this season. Kishan has a century this season already, but has only managed a total of two runs in two innings since then. De Kock hit 97 not out against the Royals, but outside of that has only five runs in two innings. The South African may be picked for his wealth of experience.
Travis Head should automatically slot in at the top of the order. Aniket Verma has probably earned his spot too for his explosivity in the middle overs. Ajinkya Rahane could be a decent batter to bank on in your middle order as someone who knows the conditions of most Indian venues.
The all-rounders to think about could be the West Indian pair of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. It may be difficult to look past a duo of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup champions. Russell won the 2012 and 2016 editions, while Narine only won the 2012 edition. Abhishek Sharma is also in with a shout. His batting is his strongest point with almost 1500 IPL runs, but has added valuable finger-spin to his arsenal in recent times.
Varun Chakravarthy at home could be worth having in your locker. The mystery spinner has one four-wicket haul and one five-wicket haul in the IPL. Sunrisers’ spinner Zeeshan Ansari is fresh off a three-fer in his previous game. Where pace is concerned, Indian players such as Harshal Patel and Mohammed Shami are experienced and will be good value in your side.
Australian Travis Head may be difficult to look past as your captain. He has started his campaign with scores of 67, 47 and 22. The left-hander’s career IPL strike rate is currently over 175 too.
Potentially a risky option, but it may pay off taking a punt on young newcomer to the IPL circuit in Aniket Verma. The 23-year-old has shown phenomenal power with more than double the number of sixes than fours in his T20 career. He has scores 7, 36 and 74 this IPL.
You will have plenty of options to work with across both sides. The strength of the Kolkata Knight Riders lies in their opening batters and spin bowlers. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s openers are equally powerful, but they have an explosive middle order too. The battle of the bowlers could be between the pacers of SRH versus the spinners of KKR.
The pitch conditions could give a high-scoring game. Your choices of batters could be instrumental for getting the most out of your Dream11 team.
Travis Head unsurprisingly leads the pack with 284 Dream11 points
Australian Travis Head has 136 runs in his three IPL innings this season
This is a three-way tie between Varun Chakravarthy, Harshal Patel and Zeeshan Ansari all on three wickets each
Aniket Verma with 12 sixes has double the number of sixes than Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, Ajinkya Rahane and Quinton de Kock with six sixes
With his boundary-hitting power, Aniket Verma also leads the way with a batting strike rate of 205.26
The most economical bowler is Kolkata’s Varun Chakravarthy with an economy rate of 6.55
