Delhi Capitals will be looking to go two wins from two, not just consecutive wins overall, but also against Royal Challengers Bangalore in this year’s competition.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will have improved their confidence levels after claiming their first home victory of the season against Rajasthan Royals. They will start to believe that they can get in the habit of winning either home or away.
This match will be a significant one in the leadup to the IPL play-offs for 2025. A result either way could turn the tide on the teams’ chances of reaching the knockouts.

Neither team should face any injury challenges ahead of the game
Weather conditions will be well in the batters’ favour. Temperatures will be scorching at almost 40 degrees Celsius during the day and only slightly dropping during the evening and night. The pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium is already well-known for its batter-friendly characteristics. There may not be much deviation from that based on weather conditions. Delhi scored 188 for five in 20 overs in their last home game.
KL Rahul’s innings against Lucknow Super Giants led to an eight-wicket victory for Delhi. His performance also marked him as the fastest player to reach 5000 IPL runs, by doing so in just 130 innings. Phil Salt achieved his best IPL season with the bat in 2024. The English wicketkeeper-batter scored 435 runs with four half-centuries. Young left-handed batter Abishek Porel is promising with 585 IPL runs and three half-centuries to his name.
Devdutt Padikkal has been in stunning form with the bat in the past month. He has hit 193 in six IPL innings for April 2025. Virat Kohli will be eyeing a continuation of his stellar patch of run-scoring. The opening batter has lit up the IPL with three half-centuries inside his past four innings. South African Tristan Stubbs’ IPL career strike rate of almost 170 is a standout feature. He has made four scores of 30-plus this season.
Appointed as Delhi Capitals' captain for the 2025 season, Axar Patel has taken on the role with both hands. His IPL career of over 1800 runs and over 120 wickets ranks him among the top all-rounders of the league. Krunal Pandya has been effective with both bat and ball throughout his career. His better work in recent IPL games is with the ball. He has taken four wickets in his past two bowling innings.
Josh Hazlewood of the away team is likely to be a force with the new ball. His biggest asset is his ability to move the ball off a length. The Australian recently crossed the 50-wicket mark in the IPL against Rajasthan Royals. Another Australian in Mitchell Starc is a weapon in white ball cricket at the start of an innings. The left-arm pacer has crossed the 200-wicket mark in T20s while collecting three four-wicket hauls and one five-wicket haul along the way. Local star Mukesh Kumar has made his name known in the streets of Delhi after a successful IPL 2024 campaign with 17 wickets in ten games. He has started with nine wickets in eight games for 2025.
Virat Kohli returns to his state of origin in Delhi. The legendary Indian cricketer has more than 9000 domestic T20 runs, while not forgetting his eight domestic T20 hundreds. All of those centuries were scored in the IPL.
Axar Patel will be a leader by actions when he gets his turn to bat and bowl. The left-hander has 3262 T20 runs and 240 T20 wickets. His stats will be envied by many an all-rounder.
With the type of pitch and overhead conditions in store for the players on matchday, it would be far from a bad idea to include a number of top-class batters.
The spin-bowling all-rounders could be handy on the dry surface for their bowling efforts, while also capable of shifting momentum with the bat.
The new-ball bowlers could be key with the new ball and in the powerplay generally. Both Australians bring different angles of attack.
Virat Kohli at 732 Dream11 fantasy points is king where this stat is concerned
Virat Kohli is only eight runs shy of 400 runs this season
Josh Hazlewood got himself back among the top wicket-takers after his four-wicket haul took him to 16 wickets
KL Rahul leads this with 16 sixes
Karun Nair is currently striking at 192.86 with Australian Tim David not far behind at 187.50
Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav has gone for a meagre 6.50 runs per over
