India vs New Zealand T20 Record

Match Played: 20 India Wins: 11 New Zealand Wins: 9 After winning just three out of the first eleven T20 matches it played against New Zealand, India has won eight out of the next nine. This run includes a 5-0 victory against New Zealand in New Zealand and a 3-0 victory against them in India. Of course, New Zealand dominates India in ICC Events but that is a story for another time.

From this series, we do expect India to start playing a full-strength team in most matches. To start out, we think Rohit Sharma, Kl Rahul, and Virat Kohli will be the top-3. There is a lot of noise on social media that these three cannot fit into the T20 team together.

India

Batting

Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Rishab Pant, and Deepak Hooda are the players that will be in the running for an opening slot. We expect to see Gill and Pant get an extended run with Suryakumar Yadav coming in at number three.

The fight for middle-order slots is intense. Hardik Pandya will bat at number four, his preferred position in the IPL as well, or he may shift down to number 5. Sanju Samson, Deepak Hooda, and Shreyas Iyer are the other players that would expect a place in the playing eleven. Once again, India seems to find itself with a lineup of batters all of whom prefer batting at the top of the order. Shreyas Iyer could perhaps find himself out of the lineup even though he has been performing well off-late.

Bowling

India’s bowling lineup has some good options to choose from. Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar should both get some swing in the New Zealand conditions while Mohammad Siraj, Umran Malik, and Harshal Patel will battle for the role of the remaining one/two seamers. Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, and Washington Sundar are the spin bowling options.
