SL vs ZIM Team Previews
Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka’s recent form in white-ball cricket hasn’t been the best, as they recently lost all three ODIs against Pakistan. With the T20 World Cup fast approaching, they will need to bounce back soon to gather some momentum ahead of the marquee tournament.
Sri Lanka has retained most of the players from the squad that played against Pakistan in the ODIs, with a couple of exceptions. Skipper Charith Asalanka has returned home due to an illness, and the reins of the team have been handed over to Dasun Shanaka. He will be joined by Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage in the middle order.
Pavan Rathnayake, who recently made his international debut against Sri Lanka, could be included in the playing XI. A lot will depend on Pathum Nissanka as he remains the key batsman for Sri Lanka. He will be joined by Kusal Mendis as his opening partner.
With the availability of Wanindu Hasaranga not yet confirmed, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth has been called as a cover if the need arises. Asitha Fernando has also been rested, and in his absence, we could see Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thushara lead the attack with the new ball.
Sri Lanka Expected Playing 11
Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (WK), Kusal Perera, Dasun Shanaka (C), Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Maheesh Theekshana, Nuwan Thushara, Dushmantha Chameera, Pavan Rathnayake, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth

Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe will be gutted by the loss against Pakistan in the opening fixture. They gave a tough fight to the hosts and were in the game till the end. However, they failed to seize key moments and, in the process, lost the match.
Brian Bennett and Tadiwanashe Marumani have the team a solid start and will hope to do the same in this match as well. Bennett was the top run-scorer for the team and appears to be in fine form.
Zimbabwe has a strong and experienced middle order made up of Ryan Burl, Brendan Taylor, and Sikandar Raza, while the all-rounders, Brad Evans and Tony Munyonga, add depth to the batting.
Brad Evans was the team’s best bowler on Tuesday and will join Richard Ngrava and Tinotenda Maposa in the pace department. Sikandar Raza and Graeme Cremer form the spin attack.
Zimbabwe Expected Playing 11
Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brendan Taylor (WK), Ryan Burl, Sikandar Raza (C), Tony Munyonga, Brad Evans, Tinotenda Maposa, Richard Ngrava, Graeme Cremer, Tashinga Musekiwa
SL vs ZIM Toss Prediction
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
Pitch Report and Weather Conditions
The pitch is likely to be a bit on the slower side and also a bit dry. Batting here won’t be the easiest, especially in the first inning, as the ball grips the surface and loses some of its pace. The quicker bowlers who hit the deck with the seam will be rewarded.
The surface does get better to bat on during the second half, and the team batting first will look to score at least 175-180 runs to put the opposition under pressure. The weather will be chilly with temperatures around 17 degrees, and the dew could play a big role.
SL vs ZIM: Who Will Win?
Sri Lanka starts this match as the favorites to win. While not in the best of form, Sri Lanka remains a strong side with plenty of experience in all departments. That said, we have seen Zimbabwe play well, and they have never given up a match without a fight. We are expecting a well-fought contest.
Bet on Sri Lanka to win.
