South Africa scored an easy win over the hosts in the first match of this series to gain an early lead in the competition. However, New Zealand is a tougher opponent and the Proteas need to play well going ahead.

South Africa has rested some of its senior players for this series to bring in new talent. Lhuan-dre Pretorius made his T20 debut amidst much anticipation but was dismissed for a golden duck in the previous match.
