Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine are two of the most destructive opening batters in the league. On the other hand, Veda Krishnamurthy, who opens the batting for Gujarat alongside Beth Mooney, is yet to prove herself. Therefore, RCB is likely to get a better start in this match.
The pitch at Bangalore is good to bat on. As the boundaries aren’t the longest and the outfield is pretty quick, we should be able to see at least one high-scoring over in the game.
The spinners have bowled well on this ground during the last two matches and have managed to pick up at least 13 wickets in both those games. We are therefore expecting a similar outcome in this match.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to build upon its winning momentum as it faces the Gujarat Giants on Tuesday in the ongoing Women’s Premier League season. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Both teams have faced each other in 2 matches so far, with both teams winning 1 match each.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Sports 18 Network.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore scored a thrilling win over the UP Warriorz in their opening fixture and scored 2 points.
While the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine weren’t able to give the team a strong start, S Meghana and Richa Ghosh put up a 71-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take the team to a match-winning total. RCB has some talented all-rounders playing for them, including Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux, and Shreyanka Patil, who will add depth to the batting.
The spin attack will be one of the biggest strengths for them. Sobhana Asha picked up a fifer on Saturday to rattle the opposition batting and will hope to do the same. She will be supported by Georgia Wareham and Shreyanka Patil. Renuka Singh Thakur will lead the attack with the new ball.
The Gujarat Giants’ poor form from last season seems to have spilled over ad as they faced a heavy defeat against Mumbai in their opening fixture on Sunday. They will now hope to bounce back in this match.
Beth Mooney looked to be in good touch as she scored 24 runs. However, she was unable to convert it into a big inning. It was also a failure of the top order batting as none of Harleen Deol, Veda Krishnamurthy, Phobe Litchfield, and D Hemalatha managed to reach double digits.
The Giants will want at least one of them to play well. The team has a couple of all-rounders in the form of Kathryn Bryce and Ashleigh Gardner who can add quick runs towards the death overs. Gujarat will also need to bowl well. Tanuja Kanwar was the pick of the attack as she picked up 2 wickets.
She will be supported by Sneh Rana and Gardner in the spin department, while Lea Tahuhu and Meghna Singh will lead the attack with the new ball.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Bangalore has an even covering of grass but it is a bit dry and slow. Nevertheless, it is a good batting track. The team batting first will look to score at least 175-180 runs to put the opposition under pressure. The pitch plays the same throughout the match. The slower bowlers will get plenty of turn if they pitch in the right areas.
The weather in Bangalore is likely to be warm and humid and there will be dew on the ground as the match progresses
The Royal Challengers Bangalore start this match as the favorites to win. They played some excellent cricket in their opening fixture and displayed the ability to perfom even under pressure situations. On the other hand, Gujarat was seen struggling and they will find it difficult to turn things around.
