While the pitch in Bangalore is good to bat on, a disciplined bowling effort makes it difficult for the batters to go after the bowlers. Out of the 4 matches played by the 2 teams, only one has seen an over of more than 18 runs. We are therefore unlikely to see a high-scoring over in this match.
Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma have been in good form as an opening pair for Delhi. They put up a century stand in the last match. On the other hand, Sophie Devine in particular has struggled for Bangalore. Therefore, backing Delhi makes more sense on this wager.
S Meghana has batted well this season and has scored 89 runs in 2 matches. She has scored at least 36 runs in her 2 outings, including a half-century in the first match. Seeing her good form, it wouldn’t be surprising to see her play another big inning in this match.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore will be looking to continue its winning run in the ongoing WPL as they take on the Delhi Capitals for a mid-week clash this Thursday. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
Both teams have faced each other in 2 matches so far, with both of them being won by the Delhi Capitals.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Sports 18 Network.
After a disastrous first season, the Royal Challengers have come back strongly in this edition to win both their opening fixtures. As a result, the team is currently sitting at the top of the table thanks to an excellent NRR.
While the form of Sophie Devine remains a concern, RCB will be happy that skipper Smriti Mandhana finally managed to get some runs under her belt as she scored 43 runs in the last match. The middle order has emerged as one of the biggest strengths for the team.
S Meghana has been pretty consistent with the bat, while Ellyse Perry and Richa Ghosh have chipped in with valuable runs. The bowling from RCB has been spot-on. Renuka Singh bowled a brilliant spell with the new ball against Gujarat, never allowing the batters to settle down.
She will open the bowling with Sophie Devine. Asha Sobhana and Sophie Molineux have picked up wickets at regular intervals and will feature in the spin department alongside Georgia Wareham and Shreyanka Patil.
After losing the season opener to the Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Capitals came back strongly in the second match to score a thumping 9-wicket win over the UP Warriorz.
Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma make up for a strong opening pair. They put up a century stand in the last match, scoring individual half-centuries, and will once again look to give the team a strong start. There is plenty of talent in the middle order thanks to the presence of Jemimah Rodrigues as well as all-rounders Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland, and Alice Capsey.
Kapp was excellent with the ball in the last match as she picked up 3 wickets for just 5 runs. She will feature in the seam attack alongside Shikha Pandey and Arundhati Reddy. Radha Yadav is another bowler to watch out for as she picked up a 4-wicket haul in her last outing.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The surface at the Chinnaswamy Stadium is hard and offers plenty of pace and bounce. The quicker bowlers can expect help when the ball is new as there is some movement off the seam. While the pitch does get easier to bat as the match progresses, anything over 160 might be tricky to chase. The spinners will need to be spot on with their line and length or they will be taken for runs.
The dew factor might come into play during the second half. The weather will be warm and humid with temperatures of over 23 degrees.
Delhi and Bangalore are two of the strongest teams in this league and we can expect an exciting contest between the two. Looking at the way both have performed, we feel that Bangalore has a slight edge in this contest thanks to a well-rounded bowling attack.
