The batters may want to feel bat on ball against the new ball. That may be their downfall in causing them to nick behind to the keeper. The first dismissal in the previous head-to-head between Mumbai and Delhi started with a wicketkeeper catch to dismiss Shafali Verma.
This should be a solid outcome for someone looking to put their money towards a good bet. This tournament is only in its infant stages for this year. The previous match between these teams started with two consecutive dot balls.
Both teams should bring out the best of their competitive nature when they meet in the second match of the tournament. Both Mumbai Indians Women and Delhi Capitals Women made it the play-offs in 2024. They will be licking their lips to get the job done this year.
These are two proud franchises with an illustrious history of franchise success. Their head-to-head record speaks volumes for the miniscule margins between the sides. Mumbai Indians Women have won three matches and Delhi Capitals Women have won two matches over the course of the last five matches between them.
Mumbai Indians Women and Delhi Capitals Women will meet at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Saturday, 15 February 2025. In India you can catch the action through the TV broadcast and live-streaming. This match will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network and live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar App.
At the helm of the powerhouse Mumbai Indians Women is the dynamic Harmanpreet Kaur. The Indian international brings leadership and explosive batting. She showed her class with 33 runs in her previous innings against Delhi.
Opening the innings will be West Indian Hayley Matthews with her aggressive right-handed batting and effective off-spin. She has over 450 WPL runs and over 20 WPL runs. Behind the stumps, Yastika Bhatia's agility and sharp reflexes make her a crucial asset and will be a handy opening batter too. The young left-handed batter has come off a WBBL tournament with 157 runs in six innings, including one half-century.
The all-round capabilities of Amelia Kerr add depth to both batting and bowling departments. Her middle order batting and leg-spin poses significant challenges to opponents. The New Zealander is a superb member of the squad with 364 runs and 22 wickets in the WPL.
Chloe Tryon's powerful hitting provides the team with the ability to accelerate the scoring rate during the crucial middle phase of the game. Emerging talents like Sajeevan Sajana and Amanjot Kaur infuse youthful energy and enthusiasm into the group. Young Kaur will be seeking her first half-century of the WPL after hitting 42 runs against Delhi last year.
In the bowling arena, the express pace of Shabnim Ismail is complemented by the crafty left-arm spin of Saika Ishaque. The right-arm speedster Ismail has two five-wicket hauls for the Proteas Women in Women’s T20Is. Ishaque took two wickets against Delhi in her previous match against them.
Pooja Vastrakar's medium-pace bowling adds further versatility to the impressive squad. The pacer has taken 58 Women’s T20I wickets internationally. Youngster Jintimani Kalita's right-arm medium-fast deliveries bring an element of surprise.
The Delhi Capitals Women's team is a powerhouse in the Women's Premier League with their blend of seasoned international stars with dynamic young talent. Under the astute leadership of Australian legend Meg Lanning, the team will be confident of going one better in 2025. The opening batter hit a half-century in her previous innings against the team from Mumbai.
The explosive Shafali Verma and the elegant Jemimah Rodrigues will send shivers down the spines of the opposition when they look to counter-attack. Verma has over 550 WPL runs. Young Rodrigues hit 69 runs not out off 33 balls against Mumbai Indians Women last year.
The all-round prowess of South African stalwart Marizanne Kapp and England's rising sensation Alice Capsey adds depth to the lineup that captain Lanning must work with. Pacer Kapp took two wickets against her opposition in her previous match against them.
The spin duo of Jess Jonassen and Radha Yadav provides a potent threat. The two left-arm spinners offer an interesting duo with a wide array of knowledge from their experiences in different conditions. Australian Jonassen took three wickets against Mumbai Indians Women in 2024. Yadav has 14 wickets, including a four-wicket haul, in the WPL.
The veteran Shikha Pandey will be one of the team’s leaders in the pace department. The 35-year-old pacer has 19 wickets for her team in the WPL. The agile wicketkeeping of Taniya Bhatia will be the spark that the team need for an entertaining effort in the field.
Both captains could be in favour of chasing. Four of the past five matches between Mumbai and Delhi have been won by the team batting second.
There should an exhilarating balance between bat and ball at this venue. Batters can capitalise on the early overs with the harder, newer ball to amass runs. The spinners may find the surface increasingly conducive to their craft in the overs after the powerplay. The Delhi Capitals Women put up 192 for four in 20 overs batting first in their previous innings against Mumbai Indians Women.
The teams can expect some extreme conditions. Temperatures will be scorching and humid. On the bright side where cricket is concerned, there should be a full game with a zero percent possibility of rain.
Mumbai Indians Women were knocked out in last year’s Eliminator. Delhi Capitals Women were so far, yet so close with a loss in the 2024 Final. Both squads are filled with superstars that are both experienced and upcoming. There is only a marginal difference between their performances in the previous edition, but Delhi Capitals Women could be the slight favourites.
Bet on Delhi Capitals Women to win this match.
