The Gujarat Giants have won the toss in each of their last 3 matches. With the kind of luck they are enjoying, it is worth wagering on them to win yet again.
Mooney has shown good form in the last couple of matches and has scored consecutive half-centuries in both her appearances on this ground. With the other batters in the team struggling to score runs, betting on Beth Mooney seems to be the best option.
Deepti Sharma has emerged as one of the most reliable batters for the UP Warriorz this season. She has scored at least 19 runs in 4 of her last 5 outings. As she faces an average bowling attack from the Gujarat Giants, Sharma is likely to play a good knock yet again.
The UP Warriorz will be facing the Gujarat Giants for their final match in the group stages of WPL on Monday. The teams will face off at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in a Day/Night affair.
Both teams have faced each other in 3 matches to date, with each of them being won by the UP Warriorz.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Sports 18 Network.
The Gujarat Giants lost their latest fixture against the Mumbai Indians and remain at the bottom of the points table. Even if they win both their remaining fixtures, the chances of them qualifying for the playoffs remain a mere mathematical probability.
Beth Mooney continued with her good batting form as she slammed her second consecutive half-century, albeit for a losing cause. She is the leading run-scorer for the team with 211 points. However, the other batters haven’t been up to the task, and have often collapsed under pressure.
D Hemalatha and Laura Woolvardt have played a couple of decent knocks, but it has been too little too late for the team. Ashleigh Gardner has emerged as a reliable all-rounder to and scored 93 runs while also picking up 6 wickets. She, along with Tanuja Kanwar makes up for a good spin attack.
The seam attack has been a bit underwhelming as Renuka Singh and Kathryn Bryce have managed to pick up just 8 wickets between them.
The UP Warriorz have had a rollercoaster ride this season. At one stage, they were almost out of the race for the playoffs. However, an inspired performance from the likes of Deepti Sharma and Saima Thakor has kept them in the hunt.
Sharma was in scintillating form in the last match as she scored 59 runs and also picked up 4 wickets. She was instrumental in helping the team beat Delhi by a whisker and keep their hopes alive. Deepti is now the leading run-scorer for the team with 207 runs, and also the joint-highest wicket-taker.
The opening pair of Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire has been a bit inconsistent and the team will want them to get a strong start. Grace Harris is another reliable all-rounder in the middle order. UP has a strong spin attack consisting of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone, both of whom have 8 wickets, as well as Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who has 5.
However, the team is a bit lacking when it comes to pace options.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at Delhi is generally good to bat on and we expect it to be no different for this match. There is a good amount of pace and bounce from the surface, allowing the batters to play their shots with ease. The team batting first will aim for the 180-run mark. The spinners come into play during the second half as the pitch slows down a bit.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of between 20 and 25 degrees.
Both, the Giants and the Warriorz haven’t had the best of tournaments and will be desperate for a win here. While there is no clear favorite, we think that the UP Warriorz has a slight edge thanks to its stronger batting and spin attack.
Bet on the UP Warriorz W to win.
