Gujarat’s luck hasn’t been the best when it comes to winning the toss. They have lost the toss in all 3 matches played so far. We are therefore backing Delhi to win here.
Kanwar has picked up 5 wickets in 3 matches and was the top bowler for Gujarat in 2 of the last 3 matches. With the other bowlers in the team not performing well, Kanwar could very well be the top bowler for Gujarat yet again.
Kapp has been in excellent form with the bat as well as the ball this season and was instrumental in helping Delhi win consecutive matches. As she plays asking an average team, we are expecting her to continue with good form and put up another match-winning performance.
The Delhi Capitals will be looking to keep up the winning momentum as they face the Gujarat Giants in match number 10 of the ongoing WPL. The match will be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday.
Both teams have faced each other in 2 matches so far, with both teams winning 1 match each.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Sports 18 Network.
After a loss to the Mumbai Indians in the season opener, the Capitals have come back strongly to win their next two matches. As a result, the team is currently at the top of the table thanks to an excellent NRR.
Delhi's latest win came against RCB, which turned out to be a pretty one-sided affair. The top 3 batters for Delhi are in good form and have done the bulk of the scoring so far. Shafali Verma is in a particularly belligerent form, scoring 2 half-centuries in 3 innings.
She has received excellent support from Alice Capsey, who is 3rd on the list of top run-getters of the season. While Jemimah Rodrigues has been a bit inconsistent in the middle order, Jess Jonassen and Marizanne Kapp have been invaluable as all-rounders.
The duo put up a 48-run partnership between them against Bangalore and also picked up 5 wickets to help Delhi score an easy win. Arundhati Reddy and Radha Yadav have bowled well too, making Delhi one of the most potent bowling units in the league.
The Gujarat Giants haven’t had the best of starts this season and have lost each of the 3 matches they have played so far. As a result, the team is firmly placed at the bottom of the points table.
The batting from the Gujarat Giants has been very poor. There were a lot of expectations from Beth Mooney, Laura Woolvardt, and Harleen Deol at the beginning of the season but they have failed to deliver. Ashleigh Gardner and Phoebe Litchfield have got a couple of good starts but haven’t been able to convert them into a big inning.
The team also lacks depth in their batting and someone who can play the role of a finisher with the bat. Barring Tanuja Kanwar, the bowling has been equally disappointing. Kanwar has picked up 5 wickets in 3 matches and is the leading wicket-taker for the team.
Lea Tahuhu, Meghna Singh, and Gardner have managed to pick up just 1 wicket each, while Kathryn Bryce has managed to get 2 against her name.
The team chasing has won 5 of the 7 matches played on this ground. We, therefore, think that the winner of the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
While the pitch remains good to bat on, it is a bit sluggish during the first half, and there is something in it for the bowlers to work on. Some cracks have developed on the surface and bowlers will aim for them to get movement. A target of over 180 will be challenging on this track.
The weather will be warm and humid with temperatures of over 25 degrees. Dew might be a factor during the second half.
Delhi has played well in the last couple of matches and seems to have found a perfectly balanced team to go on the field. With a winning momentum behind them, we expect the Capitals to play well and continue with a good run.
Bet on the Delhi Capitals W to win.
