India Women To Win the Match, 1.18
After slumping to a big loss in their opening fixture, India W will look to get back to winning ways as they face arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 15 matches to date. India won 12 of those games, while Pakistan won 3.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch this match on the Star Sports Network.
India W started this tournament as one of the favorites to win. However, they were overwhelmed by an all-round effort by New Zealand on Friday and suffered a huge 58-run defeat. The loss not only cost them two points but also left a big dent in their NRR.
A lot will depend on the opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana. The duo is among the strongest opening pairs in the white-ball format but failed to get going in the previous match. Harmanpreet Kaur promoted herself to the number-3 slot in the last match but was unable to make much of an impact.
She is likely to move down to her regular spot for this match and promote Jemimah Rodrigues up the order. In addition, the Women in Blue have plenty of depth in their batting thanks to the presence of all-rounders Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil.
The bowling from India was pretty average in the previous game and they will hope to put up a better performance this time around.
Renuka Singh was the leading wicket-taker with 2 wickets and will lead the pace attack alongside Pooja Vastrakar while Radha Yadav, Shreyanka Patil, and Deepti Sharma will feature in the spin department.
Powered by an all-round performance by skipper Fatima Sana, Pakistan began its campaign on a winning note by defeating Sri Lanka. They will now enter this contest with plenty of confidence.
While Sana remains a key player for the team, Pakistan has plenty of experienced batters at the top of the order. These include the likes of Sidra Ameen, Muneeba Ali, and Gull Feroza. There are some genuine all-rounders in the team as well including Tuba Hassan, Omaima Sohai, and Nida Dar.
In terms of bowling, Pakistan has plenty of options when it comes to the spin department. Sadia Iqbal is a full-time spinner who picked up 3 wickets in the previous match and will once again play an important role during the middle overs.
She will have the support of the all-rounders. Diana Baig, who is among the most experienced bowlers in the squad, suffered an injury and could be replaced by Tasmia Rubab in the seam department.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Dubai is usually good to bat on. The surface is flat and firm, providing plenty of pace and bounce. The batters will be able to play their shots. That said, the bowlers can expect some help as well, as the pitch has some patches of grass and some cracks as well.
The spinners in particular will be effective if they hit the right areas. A score of around 160 is a par score on this surface.
Since this match will be played in the afternoon, there will be no humidity and the temperature is expected to be around 35 degrees.
While India did lose its opening game, they remain a quality side with plenty of good players. We expect them to bounce back and win this match. That said, Pakistan will build upon its momentum and give tough competition.
Bet on India W to win.
