England Women To Win the Match, 1.12
After winning its opening match against Scotland, Bangladesh will look to extend its winning momentum as it faces England in a Group B fixture on Saturday. The match will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 3 matches to date with England winning all 3 of them.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
Bangladesh put up a good performance on Thursday to make a winning start to its campaign. They defeated Scotland by 16 runs and are currently occupying the top spot on the table. Shathi Rani, who was playing only her 6th T20I, batted well at the top of the order.
She received good support from Sobhana Mostary as the duo put up 44 runs for the second wicket to take the team to a match-winning total. The team has a couple of experienced batters in the form of Shorna Akter and Nigar Sultana, while Taj Nehar adds a dash of youth to the line-up.
Coming to the bowling, Bangladesh has a well-balanced unit. Ritu Moni, who picked up 2 wickets in the previous match, will lead the pace attack alongside Marufa Akter, while Rabeya Khan, Nahida Akter, and Fahima Khatun will lead the spin department.
England won the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup but the coveted trophy has eluded them since then. Nevertheless, they remain one of the most consistent teams in the tournament and have reached the playoffs in every edition since 2012.
England seems to be peaking in form just at the right time as they had won 11 consecutive T20Is until the loss against Ireland last month, where some of the senior players were rested. England has a very strong top order consisting of hard-hitting batters like Maia Bouchier, Danielle Wyatt, and Alice Capsey.
Capsey in particular is in excellent form at the moment and can single-handedly turn the match in England’s favor if she gets going. The middle-order has plenty of experience as well in the form of skipper Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Sophia Dunkley.
England boasts of one of the strongest spin attacks in the tournament with bowlers like Sophie Ecclestone, Sarah Glenn, Charlotte Dean, and Linsey Smith. The pace attack will be led by Freya Kemp.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch in Sharjah is likely to be flat and firm, offering good pace and bounce. The batters usually enjoy batting here but the bowlers will get some help as well. The quicker bowlers can expect some seam movement with the new ball, while the spinners will come into action once the ball gets a bit old.
A score of around 150 can be considered a par score.
The weather in Sharjah is expected to be dry and hot, with temperatures of around 33 degrees.
While Bangladesh did manage to defeat Scotland in the first game, England is a much more formidable opponent that has some quality players. The latter is expected to play well and win here.
Bet on England W to win.
