The North Sydney Oval is usually a high-scoring venue that has seen plenty of big scores in the past. As both teams have some clean strikers of the ball, we are expecting at least one big over in this match.
Perry is one of the most consistent batters in the shortest format. She has scored at least 29 runs in 4 of her last 5 T20 innings and we are therefore backing her to continue playing well.
Adelaide Strikers W to win the match 1.962
The Adelaide Strikers will look to claim their first win of the season as they take on the Sydney Sixers in match number 5 of the ongoing WBBL. The match will be played at the North Sydney Oval on Tuesday.
The two teams have faced each other in 20 completed matches to date. The Sydney Strikers won 12 while Adelaide Strikers won 8.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
The Sydney Sixers made a winning start to their campaign as they defeated the Melbourne Renegades on Sunday. They will now look to continue with the winning momentum as they return to home turf.
Ellyse Perry and Hollie Armitage gave the team a strong start in the opening fixture and a similar performance will be expected from them in this game as well. Perry was in particularly fine form as she scored 81 runs from just 38 deliveries.
The middle order consists of players like Ashleigh Gardner, Sarah Bryce, and Mathilda Carmichael, all of whom are plenty experienced in the WBBL. The Sixers' biggest asset is likely to be its bowling attack. The seamers, led by Courtney Sippel, bowled well to pick up wickets at regular intervals.
Sippel and Ellyse Perry picked up 2 wickets each. Sophie Ecclestone, who picked up 2 wickets as well, will lead the spin department.
The incumbent champions will be disappointed with the way things panned out in the inaugural game as they were hammered by Brisbane Heat. It has not only cost them two points but also left a dent in their NRR.
Despite having a strong batting line-up, Adelaide could only manage to put up a sub-par target on what seemed like a good batting track at their home ground. Barring Katie Mack and Tahlia McGrath, none of the batters were able to make much of an impact.
Batters like Madeline Penna, Laura Woolvardt, and Bridget Patterson are all quality players but will need to convert their starts into big knocks. Adelaide has quite a long list of all-rounders, and it is evident from the fact that they used as many as 7 bowlers in the last game.
Megan Schutt, Darcie Brown, and Orla Prendergast are the 3 full-time seamers on the team, while Anesu Mushangwe and Amanda-Jade Wellington will bowl during the middle overs.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the North Sydney Oval is flat and is usually good to bat on. The average first-inning score here is around 170. That said, the bowlers can expect some help early on in the match as the new ball moves around a bit. But as the game progresses, things get easier for the batters.
The weather is likely to be clear with temperatures of around 20 degrees.
While the Adelaide Strikers weren’t in the best of forms on Sunday, they are a quality team that has plenty of potential match-winners. We expect the team to bounce back and play better here. Also, their excellent head-to-head record against the Sixers in recent games will give them a psychological edge.
