The North Sydney Oval has traditionally been a batting-friendly venue. Both the games played here this season have seen at least 31 4s scored. As both, Adelaide and Sydney have some aggressive batters, we can expect plenty of boundaries in this game.
Heather Knight is one of the most consistent batters in the WBBL. She has an average of 29.59 in the league, while her average when playing for Sydney Thunder is 37.04. She has also scored 358 runs in 11 innings against Adelaide Strikers. Seeing her record, we are backing Knight to play a good knock here.
Adelaide Strikers W to win 1.838
The Adelaide Strikers will look to build upon their winning momentum as they face Sydney Thunder in match number 8 of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League. The game will be played at the North Sydney Oval.
The two teams have faced each other in 16 completed games to date. Adelaide has dominated Sydney Thunder with 10 wins, while the latter has won just 6.

After losing its opening fixture against Brisbane, the defending champions bounced back smartly on Tuesday as they defeated the Sixers. They will now hope to continue with the winning run and move to the top half of the points table.
The openers Katie Mack and Laura Woolvardt haven’t been in the best of forms yet and have been unable to convert their starts into big knocks. The duo will hope to give the team a strong start this time around. Adelaide has plenty of quality batters in the middle order, including Tahlia McGrath, Orla Prendergast, Amanda-Jade Wellington, and Bridget Patterson.
If any of these stick around till the deathovers, the Strikers could post a massive total. Coming to the bowling, Adelaide Strikers have a well-balanced unit. Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown picked up 2 wickets each in the previous game and are likely to start with the new ball.
Anesu Mushangwe is among the highest wicket-takers of the tournament with 4 wickets. Amanda-Jade Wellington will join her in the spin department.
Just like the Strikers, Sydney Thunder too lost their opening game but are coming into this contest on the back of a win against the Hobart Hurricanes.
Chamari Athapaththu will be the key player for Sydney during the PowerPlay. She can play the big shots with ease and once she gets going, it will be quite difficult for the bowlers to stop her. Athapaththu will be joined by Georgia Voll at the top of the order.
With Heather Knight back in the playing eleven after recovering from an injury, she will add heft to the middle order alongside Phoebe Litchfield, Anika Learoyd, and Tahlia Wilson. Sydney Thunder has a strong seam attack that will be led by Hannah Darlington, Shabnim Ismail, and Sammy-Jo Johnson.
However, the seam department does seem a bit lacking with Samantha Bates being the only full-time spinner.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the North Sydney Oval is usually good to bat on. The surface is flat and offers a good amount of pace and bounce, allowing the batters to play their shots confidently. The team batting first will look to score around 180 or more runs to give their bowlers a fair chance at defending the target. That said, the bowlers who bowl a good line and length will be rewarded with wickets.
The weather is likely to remain overcast with temperatures of under 20 degrees.
Both teams have won their previous games and would like to keep the momentum going. While there is no clear favorite to win this game, we feel that the Adelaide Strikers have a slight edge thanks to the deep batting unit and a well-balanced bowling attack.
