Despite both teams making the play-offs in last year’s edition, their match in the play-offs was rather one-sided. The Tamizhans should be able to compete better but will require their best players to stand up. Dindigul Dragons have a lot going for them.

The Dindigul Dragons had their opposition’s number last season. They beat them twice, by eight and nine wickets respectively. They beat the same opposition in the 2023 and 2022 seasons too.

Wicketkeeper-batter Tushar Raheja’s 2024 TNPL was meaningful. The left-hander hit three half-centuries with a high score of 81. Amit Sathvik was reliable for Tiruppur in 2024. He hit two half-centuries in his last five TNPL innings. Radhakrishnan and Pradosh Ranjan Paul are another two top guns with the bat. Paul has four half-centuries as part of his 643 TNPL career runs.
Daryl Ferrario and Mohamed Ali add both batting and bowling to the mix. Ferrario will look to improve on a couple of noteworthy performances in 2024. He hit 30 against Trichy and took a three-wicket haul against Nellai. Ali has two half-centuries across all formats for Tamil Nadu.
Captain Sai Kishore and seasoned pacer Thangarasu Natarajan are the leaders of the bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Kishore leads the league's all-time wicket-takers with 78 wickets from 2016 to 2024.
Natarajan at the death is a sight to behold. Having played for India, his 67 IPL wickets would have had a big say in his first selection to India. Supporting them are bowlers like Ragupathy Silambarasan, Mohan Prasath and M Mathivannan. Silambarasan took a three-fer last year against his current side.
Both Prasath and Mathivannan are left-arm orthodox spinners.

Shivam Singh proved his quality to the rest of the league from the first game already. The powerful right-handed batter hit a score of 82 not out against Lyca Kovai King in the tournament opener. Baba Indrajith has domestic T20 experience to work with. The exciting right-handed wicketkeeper-batter has almost 550 T20 runs.
Vimal Khumar made a steady start to his 2025 TNPL with a score of 28 in his previous innings.
In the all-round department, Ravichandran Ashwin's leadership and versatility will stand out. He has excelled with over 500 runs and almost 30 wickets in his TNPL career. Maan Bafna and Aakaash Sharma provide depth to the squad when required.
Sandeep Warrier was the best bowler on show from the Dragons against the Kings. Warrier took two for 27 in four overs. Varun Chakravarthy, although wicketless in his first match, will come back firing. He has 42 wickets in his TNPL career.
Ganeshan Periyaswamy grabbed a couple of wickets in his previous bowling performance against Lyca Kovai. DT Chandrasekar was economical in his previous match, conceding only 25 runs in four overs.

The captains may take conditions into the equation when deciding on their choice at the toss. The Dindigul Dragons won their previous match by chasing at the same ground. It may be a straightforward decision to bowl first for them.
The pitch at the ground has been a balanced one. The nature of the weather conditions may tilt that in the favour of the seam bowlers in the powerplay particularly. Chasing under lights has been a slight advantage. The opening match of the tournament saw Dindigul chase a target of 150 inside the 18th over.
The weather in Coimbatore is likely to suit the bowlers with the possibility of scattered showers at 15 percent. Expect some hot and humid temperatures to come with that too.
This is a grudge match for IDream Tiruppur Tamizhans after being beaten by nine wickets to exit the tournament last year. They have made some interesting buys for this year. The Dindigul Dragons should be the team to beat this year after they started with a resounding win.
Bet on Dindigul Dragons to win this match.
IDTT vs DD win percentage stands at 63% in favor of DD.
