The pitch at Barbados offers plenty of help to the bowlers. 3 of the last 4 completed games played here have seen at least 14 wickets fall. With the kind of bowling West Indies possess, we are bound to see quite a few wickets in this match as well.
Gous batted beautifully in the last match to score 80 runs. He has scored 2 half-centuries in his 4 innings. With the batsmen around him not in the best of forms, and with the odds being offered, betting on Gous is worth the risk.
West Indies will be looking to get back to winning ways as they face the USA in a Super 8 fixture on Friday. The match will be played at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.
This is the first time that the two teams will be facing each other in a T20 international.
This match can be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
USA surprised one and all by reaching the Super 8s in its debut T20 World Cup. However, they didn’t have the best of starts to the stage as they were defeated by South Africa.
Nevertheless, there are plenty of positives that the team can take from that match and build on it. Andries Gous was in excellent form with the bat in the latest match as he slammed his 2nd half-century of the tournament. He is also the second-highest run-getter of the tournament.
He has received good support from Aaron Jones. However, Steven Taylor, Corey Anderson, and Shayan Jahangir have yet to play to their full potential.
Saurabh Netravalkar has bowled well to pick up 6 wickets. He will be joined by Ali Khan and Jasdeep Singh in the pace department, while Noshtush Kenjige and Steven Taylor will feature in the spin department.
After cruising through the initial stage, the West Indies received their first defeat of the tournament on Wednesday as they were beaten by England. The team now has the perfect opportunity to bounce back as they face the minnows of the group.
The hosts can take some solace from the fact that most of their top order batsmen chipped in with runs. Nicholas Pooran remains in good touch and is now the leading run-getter of the tournament. While the likes of Brandon King, Johnson Charles, and Rovman Powell have got some good starts, they will need at least one of them to play a long inning, especially because the all-rounders have been unable to contribute with the bat.
The bowling remains West Indies’ biggest asset. Alzarri Joseph and Akeal Hosein have picked up 9 wickets each and have got good support from Gudakesh Motie and Andre Russell.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.

The pitch at the Kensington Oval is well-balanced and we can expect a good contest between the bat and the ball. The pitch doesn’t change much during the course of the match. The quicker bowlers will get some help with the new ball, but the batsmen will be able to take care of any lose balls. The spinners have a skin in the game as well, thanks to the cracks on the surface.
Anything over 170 will be tricky to chase.
The weather will remain cloudy with temperatures hovering around 28 degrees.
While the returns on backing West Indies are pretty low, there is no point in betting against them, and that too on home turf.
Bet on the West Indies to win.
