Oman

Oman will have taken a hit from losing to Namibia in a super over. Of the team's remaining fixtures, Oman will feel that their best opportunity to put points on the board will be against Scotland.

Oman will be looking to  skipper Aqib Ilyas to play a leading role in their batting line-up. Oman's highest run-scorer in men's T20Is, Zeeshan Maqsood, will also need to play a crucial role if Oman are to challenge the Scottish bowling attack. Both men are the only Oman batters from the current squad to have surpassed the 1,000-run mark in T20Is.

Aqib Ilyas will also have a job to do with the ball. Although he has only picked up one wicket in the campaign so far, his most impressive statistic is his economy of just under 4.50 runs per over. Seamer Mehran Khan has picked up five wickets in his two games and will want to add to this tally.

Scotland

Scotland went unbeaten on their way to winning the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier in 2023. This puts them right up there as one of the top T20I associate nations who could go far in this tournament.

The strength of the Scottish batting line-up has been the contributions from numerous different batters at different times. However, Michael Jones and George Munsey will want to start Scotland off strongly, like they did against England before the match was washed out. Munsey needs 70 more runs to become only the second batter behind Richie Berrington to reach 2,000 runs in T20Is for Scotland.

Left-arm finger spinner Mark Watt brings a wealth of experience. He could be a huge threat to Oman in conditions which are likely to favour slower bowling. Together with leg-spinner Chris Greaves and right-arm off-spinner Michael Leask, the trio of spinners could be a handful for a struggling Omani batting unit.

Captain Richie Berrington will take a lot of confidence from his innings against Namibia - he managed to get his team over the line with his 47 not out. As one of the senior players of the team, he will be hoping to lead from the front by producing more match-winning knocks going forward in the tournament.

This pitch will be a bit unknown to both teams, given this will be the first 2024 T20 World Cup match hosted at the ground. The unused surface could mean that conditions shouldn't be expected to change too drastically.

No rain is forecast in North Sound on matchday. The pitch could be dry, which will suit the spinners and slower bowlers. Scores have traditionally been on the lower side.
