Hridoy has been Bangladesh’s best batsman on this tour and is averaging 27.00. He has got 3 scores of 35+ runs in his last 5 outings and was the top batsman for the team in 2 of them. With the batsmen around him not in the best of forms, Hridoy has a good chance of becoming the top scorer yet again.
Arshdeep Singh is India’s best bowler in terms of wickets during this tournament. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in 3 of his last 4 outings. As the pitch in Antigua is quite helpful to the seamers, we are backing Arshdeep to bowl a good spell.
India will be looking to strengthen its chances of making it to the semi-finals as it takes on Bangladesh on Saturday. The two teams will face off at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
Both teams have faced each other in 13 T20I to date. India has won 12 of them, while Bangladesh has managed to win just once.
This match can be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar app or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
After topping the initial stages, India continued its unbeaten run in the Super 8 stages as well by thrashing Afghanistan on Thursday. Another win here will almost take them through to the semis.
The Indian fans will be delighted by the fact that Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya got some runs under their belt in the last match. SKY went on to score his first half-century of the tournament and will yet again play an important role.
However, the poor form of some batsmen, especially the opening pair, remains a bit of a concern. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are yet to play a good knock. Also, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja haven’t been able to get going.
India will depend on its strong seam attack to give them a good start with the ball. Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 10 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah has often been unplayable. Pandya too has chipped in with 7 wickets.
After sneaking through to the Super 8, Bangladesh was jolted to reality by a rampant Australian team who defeated them in a rain-curtailed match. The Tigers now face a must-win situation to remain alive in the competition.
The chinks in Bangladesh's batting were exposed by Australia’s strong bowling unit as the team was bundled out for just 140 runs. Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan’s poor run continued in this match as well. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 41 runs in the last match but is nowhere near his full potential.
In such a scenario, there will be plenty of pressure on Towhid Hridoy and Shakib Al-Hasan to score runs. The bowlers have fared better in comparison.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain have picked up 9 wickets each, while Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed have 7 wickets. The batsmen will need to perform better if Bangladesh wants to beat India.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at North Sound is true and offers plenty of space and bounce. The quicker bowlers will enjoy bowling here as the surface doesn’t change much throughout the duration of the game. While the batsmen will not have an easy time in the middle, they can play their shots once they get settled.
The team batting first will look to set a target of at least 170-180 runs.
The weather is likely to be cloudy and humid with temperatures of around 30 degrees.
India has been clinical in its performance during this tournament, performing well on most fronts. They are a stronger team compared to Bangladesh and should end up on top here.
Bet on India to win.
