ZIM vs SL Betting Tips

Total fours in the Zimbabwe innings to be over 11.5

This is a bet worth having a crack with. In the opening T20I of the series, the home side crunched 20 boundary fours in total. On a decent batting deck, this bet should be a valuable one.

First ball of the match to be a dot bal

This is usually a decent bet to keep in your pocket. The Sri Lankans opened with a dot ball in the previous T20I against Zimbabwe. More than half of the deliveries in both opening overs consisted of dot balls.

ZIM vs SL Team Previews

Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe enters this T20I series more in survival mode than contention. Led by veteran Sikandar Raza, the squad is heavy on experience but light on momentum. Raza and Sean Williams still carry the burden of the bulk of the run-scoring.

Although Williams only averages in the low 20s with a strike rate in the mid-120s at T20I level. The national team has largely failed to groom consistent batters at this level. Youngsters like Brian Bennett and Tashinga Musekiwa offer sparks but certainly not enough of a portfolio behind them to give the side a large amount of confidence.

Tadiwanashe Marumani, behind the stumps, continues to flatter to deceive. He has proven to be gifted but unreliable with only seven runs in his last innings.

Ryan Burl has flashes of brilliance, but too often disappears when it matters. Aside from Bennett’s 81 in the first game, the rest of the batting lineup only put together 79 runs. The middle order of Tashinga Musekiwa and Tony Munyonga is a patchwork of unproven cricketers.

Richard Ngarava and Blessing Muzarabani bring pace and bounce but lack support. Tinotenda Maposa is raw to the scene and Evans hasn’t nailed a spot in the side. The group of Evans, Maposa and Muzarabani all got taken for ten or more runs per over in game one.

Without breakthroughs, their attack risks becoming toothless against better-drilled sides like Sri Lanka. This is a team in a continuous failing rebuilding stage. The talent is there, but the team lacks any killer instinct to see off teams.

Zimbabwe Expected Playing 11

Brian Bennett, Tadiwanashe Marumani (wk), Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza (c), Ryan Burl, Tashinga Musekiwa, Tony Munyonga, Brad Evans, Tinotenda Maposa, Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka arrive with purpose and drive by building towards the next T20 World Cup. Pathum Nissanka brings steady power at the top, letting wicketkeepers Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera attack the new ball without fear. The opening partnership in the previous innings was worth 96 runs.

Nuwanidu Fernando adds the glue too the batting lineup in the middle. Captain Charith Asalanka is the left-hand pivot who targets spin and keeps the tempo going after the powerplay. Kamindu Mendis lengthens the batting deep into the death overs, especially after a walloping 41 not out off only 16 balls.

The finishing unit looks sharp. Dasun Shanaka’s range through midwicket and long-off remains a late-overs weapon against the sweepers on the boundary, while also chipping in as a handy medium-pace bowler. The former Sri Lankan skipper is a vastly experienced customer with over 100 T20Is to his name. Dushan Hemantha offers multi-dimensional skills with busy runs and wrist-spin control.

With ball in hand, Dushmantha Chameera’s hard lengths and hit-the-deck pace pair perfectly with Nuwan Thushara’s sling and yorkers at the death. Maheesh Theekshana ties it all together with his finger-spin. He has the flexibility in skill to be a powerplay strangler, middle-overs banker or death-overs contributor. Combined, Chameera and Theekshana have 13 wickets against Zimbabwe.

Sri Lanka Expected Playing 11

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (wk), Kusal Perera, Nuwanidu Fernando, Charith Asalanka (c), Kamindu Mendis, Dasun Shanaka, Dushan Hemantha, Dushmantha Chameera, Maheesh Theekshana, Nuwan Thushara

ZIM vs SL Toss Prediction

Bowling first is likely to be the preferred choice at the toss. After the Sri Lankans opted to bowl first and won the opening T20I, they may have the winning formula.

Pitch Report and Weather Conditions

There is usually a bit of movement for the quick bowlers at the start of a match. Once batters get their eye in, they can trust the bounce and play their shots. As the match wears on, the pitch tends to slow down and brings the spinners into the game.

Bowlers will need to get clever with their use of variations and cutters, particularly on a hard surface where the ball can sit up nicely. Zimbabwe scored 175 for seven in its previous T20I innings at the venue.

The clear skies and hot weather will be a non-negotiable for the day. The gentle breeze could assist the players in cooling things down. The rain is highly likely to stay away with only a five percent chance of it.

ZIM vs SL: Who Will Win?

The teams have put on a show in all the matches of this tour, but Sri Lanka has ended on the better end of all of them. The classy outfit continues to prove that, even under pressure and the Zimbabweans playing above their own expectations, the visiting nation has enough in the tank to succeed.

Bet on Sri Lanka to win.

ZIM vs SL win percentage stands at 71% in favor of SL.

Todays Match Prediction: Sri Lanka to Win.
