ENG vs SA Betting Tips

South Africa to score under 6.5 runs in their first over

The English and the South Africans met at last year’s T20 World Cup. You should be in safe hands with this bet after how the visitors started in that game. The Proteas could only manage two runs in their opening over of the match.

Total fours in the match for England to be over 12.5

The home team has numerous ball-strikers who can destroy any bowling attack. Against the West Indies in the side’s previous T20I, the team hit a massive 18 boundary fours. They might not show any mercy to the South Africans either.

ENG vs SA Team Previews

England

Jamie Smith adds bulk runs in the top-order. Ben Duckett and Jos Buttler form a ruthless white-ball engine which won’t let up on the run rate. Duckett’s sweep game stretches fields while Buttler remains a world-class finisher with elite T20 pedigree.

Buttler hit back-to-back half-centuries in the ODI series with five catches behind the stumps, while Smith also hit two half-centuries in the ODI series.

Captain Harry Brook knits the middle together. Will Jacks supplies acceleration. His 275 runs in the Men’s Hundred was a vivid reminder of his ability to blow games open beyond the powerplay. Tom Banton’s flair adds more ignition the middle overs.

Jacob Bethell’s left-handed pinch-hitting plus left-arm spin gives him the ability to tackle any match-ups. His 110 in the third ODI makes him a daunting proposition for the South African bowlers with more freedom in a shorter format.

Brydon Carse’s heavy length and bounce will test the South Africans. Luke Wood’s left-arm angle will keep the right-handers honest. He took three wickets in his previous T20. Liam Dawson’s control partners Adil Rashid’s elite leg-spin. Rashid sits among England’s leading T20I wicket-takers at 135 wickets.

England Expected Playing 11

Jamie Smith, Ben Duckett, Jos Buttler (wk), Harry Brook (c), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Liam Dawson, Adil Rashid, Luke Wood

South Africa

Captain Aiden Markram is the glue to this side, but the worry is that the team may rely too heavily on him alone to deliver the winning performance. He could only score a single run in his previous T20I innings against England.

Ryan Rickelton’s tempo has not fully lived up to the fireworks of his domestic career yet. His T20I batting average is only just over 20. The young pair of Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Dewald Brevis can capture the imagination when on form, but their freshness to the international level means they shouldn’t be relied on for consistency. Pretorius has limped to a T20I batting average of 16.37.

Tristan Stubbs has improved but has struggled against quality bowling at times. Despite a reasonable amount of time at the crease in his previous innings, he could only strike at just over 100. Miller’s finishing aura isn’t what it was in the past.

The veteran finisher is arguably past his prime. Corbin Bosch provides fiery pace, but without that, he could be easily lined up for the hitting. Senuran Muthusamy’s defensive style of spin can drift into containment without wickets. Bosch and Muthusamy have not blown the house down with only 13 T20I wickets between them.

Kagiso Rabada is over-burdened as the banker for wickets. Lungi Ngidi’s drop in pace and injuries have trimmed the bite that he used to have. Ngidi’s T20I career economy rate is at nearly nine runs per over.

Although talented, young Kwena Maphaka faces a steep learning curve at this level. He went at 12 runs an over in his last T20I bowling stint.

South Africa Expected Playing 11

Aiden Markram (c), Ryan Rickelton (wk), Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Dewald Brevis, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Corbin Bosch, Senuran Muthusamy, Kagiso Rabada, Kwena Maphaka, Lungi Ngidi

ENG vs SA Toss Prediction

England elected to bowl first in the last T20I against South Africa that it hosted. Both captains may be encouraged to bowl first under lights in this T20I series opener.

Pitch Report and Weather Conditions

The new ball typically offers seam and swing in the powerplay before the batters come into their own. Scoring is typically middle of the range in nature, but not impossible to get some higher scores. The previous T20I first-innings total at the venue being 193 for six proves the point.\

Light rain is likely to be the order of the day at a 40 percent chance. Temperatures are expected to be increasingly cooler during the night with a gust of wind.

ENG vs SA: Who Will Win?

England’s previous home T20I series was a three-nil thrashing of the West Indies. By contrast, South Africa suffered a T20I series loss away in South Africa. The home crowd should give more than enough energy to their team to see them land up on winning side.

Bet on England to win.

ENG vs SA win percentage stands at 59% in favor of ENG.

Todays Match Prediction: England to Win.
