The left-hander has been superb in his history of playing in the SA20 for MI Cape Town. In his ten previous innings before this season’s SA20, Rickelton hit 530 runs at a batting strike rate just over 170. He will be a safe bet.
The last time MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals played at Newlands. The MI Cape Town batting lineup ran riot chasing 173 inside 17 overs. In that innings they hit 13 fours. It would seem plausible that if they bat the full 20 overs, they should pass the 12.5 mark.
The crowd will be in for some thrilling entertainment as the Cape derby makes its way to Newlands. MI Cape Town have never lost to the Paarl Royals in Cape Town. They will look to extend that record in front of their home crowd. Paarl Royals have all the tools in their arsenal to upset the apple cart.
MI Cape Town have not been as successful as the Paarl Royals overall. However, this is a one-on-one match they have enjoyed. MI Cape Town have won three of the four times that they have met Paarl Royals. Paarl won the previous time when they met MI Cape Town in Paarl.

On the batting front, the experienced Rassie van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks bring stability at the top of the order. They are two dynamic openers who know how to find the boundary and rotate strike. Van der Dussen and Hendricks each have an incredible five centuries in T20 cricket.
Connor Esterhuizen is included as the wicketkeeper. The youngster brings firepower with the bat too. Young sensation Dewald Brevis offers explosive hitting in the middle overs with a couple of legspin overs up his sleeve too.
Brevis opened his SA20 campaign with a half-century in game one. Veteran Colin Ingram adds depth with his ability to control the innings.
All-rounders George Linde, Azmatullah Omarzai and Delano Potgieter provide valuable balance to the side as key batters and bowlers. Linde and Potgieter both hit unbeaten scores in the 40s against the Joburg Super Kings.
Delano Potgieter also claimed the man-of-the-match award against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape with an unbeaten 25 off 12 and bowling figures of five for ten in three overs.
Dynamic leg-spinner Rashid Khan leads the MI Cape Town side. The team will heavily rely on its star-studded bowling attack featuring South African spearhead Kagiso Rabada and New Zealand's left-arm pacer Trent Boult. Boult grabbed two wickets in his opening game.
Rashid’s unmatched T20 experience will be crucial in both restricting runs and taking key wickets during the middle overs. The Afghan all-rounder has more than 2500 runs and more than 620 wickets in his T20 career.
The batting lineup is anchored by seasoned campaigners like Joe Root and captain David Miller. Both batters will bring the best out of their stability and firepower in the middle order. Youngster Lhuan-dre Pretorius provides an exciting opening option. He will take the fearless approach.
Pretorius had a memorable first match of the season with an innings of 97 runs off 51 balls. He was ably supported by the experienced Joe Root with 62 not out off 44 balls. Sam Hain and Mitchell van Buuren offer flexibility in the top and middle order.
Their strike rotation will be key. Veteran wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik will play a pivotal role with his sharp glovework and finishing prowess. The experienced Indian cricketer has over 7400 T20 runs.
All-rounder Dayyaan Galiem adds depth to both batting and bowling to make the Royals a well-rounded outfit. He recently made his T20I debut for South Africa against Pakistan with bowling figures of two for 21.
Lungi Ngidi leads the pace attack with his ability to strike early. The right-arm fast bowler is supported by promising left-arm talent Kwena Maphaka. The youngster will take a leaf out of the experienced Protea’s book. The spin department is well-covered with Bjorn Fortuin and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
They offer the versatility of turning the ball both ways. Maphaka and Ur Rahman were the only two bowlers to grab wickets against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape with two each. Left-arm spinner Fortuin has 20 SA20 wickets in his career.
Both of the previous two matches between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals played in Cape Town were under lights. MI Cape Town won both those matches by chasing. Both captains may not hesitate to bowl first if they win the toss.
The pitch at Newlands should offer good bounce and carry for the fast bowlers. The fast bowlers will want to maximise the movement of the new ball in the powerplay. The dry weather leading up to this match could mean that the spinners will come into play at some stage.
Dew is another factor to consider with this fixture being played under floodlights. The previous target that MI Cape Town successfully chased against the Paarl Royals at Newlands was 173.
Weather conditions look perfect for a wonderful game of cricket at Newlands. Temperatures will be scorching hot with the addition of humidity. There is no chance of rain on the day.
Both squads are blessed with numerous world-class T20 cricketers. This Cape derby has the potential to be a cracking contest. MI Cape Town has the upper hand over Paarl Royals at Newlands with two wins from two. They have the batting firepower to make it three from three.
