Will Jacks has batted well this year and has scored at least 27 runs in both his innings, including a half-century. Seeing his good form, we are backing Jacks to play another good knock.
The pitch at Johannesburg isn’t the easiest to bat on. With the overcast conditions, it will be difficult for the batsmen to go after the bowling and we are unlikely to see a big over.
The Joburg Super Kings will look to make it 3 wins in 3 games as they take on the Pretoria Capitals in the ongoing SA20 edition. The two teams will clash on Thursday at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The two teams have faced each other in 4 matches. The Super Kings have won twice while the Capitals have won once. One match ended without any result.
This match can be watched live on the Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
The Joburg Super Kings have been clinical in their performance this year and have won both of their matches so far. They are currently placed 2nd on the points table.
The Joburg Super Kings boast a strong and experienced batting unit that is led by Faf du Plessis. While his individual form hasn’t been the best, he brings plenty of experience to the table and it is just a matter of time before he gets going.
Du Plessis will be joined by Devon Conway in the opening slot. Leus du Plooy has played well in both matches and is an indispensable part of the middle order along with Johnny Bairstow and Donovan Ferreira.
The Super Kings also have a couple of solid all-rounders such as Wihan Lubbe and David Weise. Matheesha Pathirana and Gerald Coetzee will start the proceedings with the new ball while Imran Tahir and Tabraiz Shamsi are the two spinners.
The Pretoria Capitals are coming into this contest on the back of an excellent victory against Sunrisers Eastern Cape. With 7 points in 3 matches, they are currently placed 3rd on the points table.
Will Jacks and Rahmanullah Gurbaz make up for a strong opening pair and the duo has given the team some good starts this year. Gurbaz is the team’s leading run-scorer with 96 runs while Jacks is close behind with 91.
That said, the middle order hasn’t had much chance to showcase its form and remains untested. Marques Ackerman, Rilee Rossouw, and Paul Verreynne are all good batsmen who can lend stability to the batting line-up, while all-rounders Liam Livingstone, James Neesham, Senuran Muthusamy, and Migael Pretorius add depth to the batting.
The bowling has been one of the team’s biggest strengths so far. Muthusamy is among the leading wicket-takers of the season with 5 wickets. Daryn Dupavillon and Eathan Bosch make up for a strong new-ball pair who will be supported by Neesham, Livingstone, and Pretorius.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The weather in Johannesburg has been overcast over the last couple of days and it has rained quite a lot. There will be some moisture on the pitch, allowing the ball to skid. The new ball will move around and the batsmen will have to settle down before they can start playing the big shots.
While the surface does get slightly better in the second half, anything over 160-170 can get difficult to chase.
It is likely to rain here on Thursday and we may DLS come into effect in case of interruptions.
We are backing the Joburg Super Kings to win here. They have played well in both matches and will be confident of getting a similar result in this match as well. That said, the Capitals are a strong team and we can expect a close contest.
Bet on the Joburg Super Kings to win.
