The pitch at Lahore is excellent to bat on and has seen some high individual scores in the past. As both teams have some quality batsmen playing for them, we can expect at least one of them to put up a big score.
Afridi is one of the leading wicket-takers of the PSL and has been in good form in the last couple of weeks. Shaheen has picked up 6 wickets in his last 5 outings at the ILT20 and we are backing him to bowl well.
Fakhar Zaman averages over 31.00 in the PSL and is among the top run-getters of the league. He has shown good form on the recent international tour to New Zealand and we think that he will play a good knock in this match.
The 9th edition of the Pakistan Super League is about to get underway this week as the defending champions, the Lahore Qalandars, will take on Islamabad United at the Gaddafi on Saturday.
Both teams have faced each other in 17 matches so far. Islamabad has won 9 of those matches, while Lahore has won 8.

The Lahore Qalandars were brilliant in the last season. The team finished at the top of the points table during the group stage and also went on to lift the title for the second time in a row. As the team begins a fresh campaign, they will look to get a strong start.
The Lahore Qalandars have one of the strongest seam attacks in the league and will bank on it to deliver the goods. The new ball attack will be led by Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was among the top 5 wicket-takers of the last edition. He will be joined by Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan, and Mohammad Irfan.
With Rashid Khan unavailable for the entire season, the spin attack does seem over-reliant on Sikandar Raza, who features in the squad as an all-rounder. With the likes of Shai Hope and Rassie van der Dussen also pulling out of the season, the batting does appear to be a weak spot for the Qalandars.
They will now be heavily reliant on the performance of Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique. The middle order too seems to be weak in the absence of quality international talent.
Islamabad United are among the most successful teams in the PSL and have lifted the trophy twice to date. They made it to the playoffs in each of the last 3 seasons and will hope to do the same this time around.
Islamabad seems to have found the perfect mix of domestic and international talent. The batting unit consists of T20 specialists from around the world, including Jordan Cox, Alex Hales, and Colin Munro, who will join forces with Azam Khan and Agha Salman to help the team post a match-winning total.
The squad also has some quality all-rounders like Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, and Tom Curran, who have plenty of experience playing in the shortest format. The seam attack will be led by Pakistan international Naseem Shah and will be supported by Tymall Mills, Rumman Raees, and Matthew Forde.
However, just like the Qalandars, Islamabad too will be heavily reliant on the all-rounders to deliver in the spin department.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at Lahore is good to bat on in the first half. There is a good amount of bounce and pace on offer and the batsmen will be able to play their shots. The quicker bowlers will need to be accurate with their line and length. The average first-inning score here is around 185.
The pitch does slow down a bit during the second half and helps the spinners.
With the final playing eleven yet to be declared, this is a difficult match to call. However, looking at the squad, we feel that Islamabad United has an edge in this contest. With several international stars unavailable for the Qalandars, they are likely to struggle.
Bet on Islamabad United to win.
