The pitch at the SCG assists the bowlers who bowl with a good line and length. 8 of the last 10 games played at this venue have seen 13 or more wickets fall and we are expecting a similar outcome here.
Batsmen will not have the easier time at this venue especially as both teams have a strong bowling line-up. The SCG has hosted 18 matches to date but only 7 individuals have been able to cross the 70-run threshold.
Having won the 1st T20, Australia will look to clinch the series as it faces Pakistan for the second game on Saturday. The match will be played at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground.
The two teams have faced each other in 26 matches to date. Australia won 12 while Pakistan won 13. 1 match ended without any outcome.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. You can also watch this match live on the Star Sports Network.
After a poor run in the ODI series, Australia came back strongly to take an early lead in the T20 series.
The team put up a clinical performance in a rain-shortened game to beat Pakistan quite convincingly in the end. They are likely to retain the same playing eleven for this match as well.
Mathew Short and Jake Fraser-McGurk are both explosive batsmen at the top of the order and if they get going, Australia could post a huge total. Another strength of Australia is the number of quality all-rounders they possess.
Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis played a pivotal role with the bat in the previous game while Tim David and Aaron Hardie are excellent finishers in the death overs.
In the absence of the seniors, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, and Nathan Ellis will lead the seam attack while Adam Zampa is the lone specialist spinner. Australia showed just how difficult it is to defeat at home because they use the big boundaries to their advantage.
Even with so many of their first-choice players missing, Australia is the firm favorite to win.
The visitors were completely out-played in the first T20 and need to bounce back quickly if they want to save the series.
Pakistan is one of the most unpredictable teams and has been for a long time now. After seeing the way they performed in the last two ODIs, many punters backed them to win the opening T20 as well. But the batting line-up failed miserably on what seemed to be a decent batting track.
Pakistan lost its top 6 batsmen for just 24 runs. If not for Haseebulah Khan and Abbas Afridi, the team could have been bundled out for less than 50 runs. They, along with Shaheen Shah Afridi, were the only three who managed to reach the double digits.
More will be expected from the likes of Babar Azam, Sahibzada Farhan, and Mohammad Rizwan. Pakistan didn’t include any specialist spinner in the first game but that could change here.
Pakistan's strength is its fast-bowling trio but Naseem Shah, in particular, seemed ordinary in the opening match. We also saw a genuine effort to take the game on from the Pakistani batters but that did not look natural. While that is the modern way of playing T20 cricket, Pakistan will have to examine its own resources to see if it can pull it off.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at the SCG usually offers a balanced surface and we are looking forward to a close contest between the bat and the ball. The average first-inning score here is around 168 and that can be considered a par score. The pitch has a good pace and bounce but tends to slow down as the match progresses. The spinners are likely to get some help in the second half.
The weather is likely to remain cloudy with temperatures of over 20 degrees.
Australia was clinical in its performance on Thursday and we expect them to continue playing well. Pakistan will need to come up with something special if they want to win here.
