Washington Freedom

Washington has been the most consistent team this season. They finished at the top of the table during the group stages and thanks to some help from the rain Gods during Qualifier 1, managed to reach their second consecutive finals.

Washington has a strong batting lineup that is likely to be headlined by Mitchell Owen and Rachin Ravindra. Owen has been in sensational form with the bat and the ball. He is the leading run-scorer as well as the leading wicket-taker for his team.

Andries Gous and Glenn Maxwell have been pretty solid in the middle order, with Jack Edwards and Glenn Phillips chipping in at various stages of the season. Washington Freedom boasts a strong seam attack that consists of Mitchell Owen, Ian Holland, Jack Edwards, and Saurabh Netravalkar.

While the team does lack a specialist spinner, Glenn Maxwell and Glenn Phillips are both dependable bowlers during the middle overs.

MI New York

MI wasn’t in the best of form at the start of the season, managing to win only one of their first seven matches. At one stage, they seemed to be heading for a certain elimination. However, the team peaked in form just at the right time and is now in the race to claim their second MLC title.

New York will be delighted to see Nicholas Pooran score a half-century in the Challenger. He has had a relatively quiet season compared to his standard. Nevertheless, he gave a glimpse of how dangerous he can be once he gets going. Joining him in the middle order will be all-rounders Kieron Pollard, Michael Bracewell, and Tajinder Dhillon.

Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel continue to open the batting for the team. Monank Patel is in excellent form and is the team’s leading run-scorer. New York does need to work on its bowling though.
