Mangalore Dragons were in terrific form in the league stage of the competition. They, together with the Hubli Tigers, were the only two teams to have recorded seven wins in their ten games in the league. They played their first playoff game against the second-ranked Hubli Tigers and suffered a heavy defeat in the contest.
The 110-run drubbing must have dented their psyche a bit. The Hubli top-order pummelled Mangalore's bowling attack in the Qualifier 1 to raise a score of 210 runs for the loss of just two wickets. The Mangalore reply was nothing short of pathetic as they went down for 110 runs all out in 16.1 overs.
The Mangalore bowlers were plundered all over the park by the Hubli batters, and only two bowlers, viz. the skipper Shreyas Gopal and Macneil Noronha, escaped punishment.
