While both teams have a strong opening pair, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have been in red-hot form of late. The duo has scored 312 runs in just 4 matches and has two 100+ stands against their name, one of which came against RCB in a reverse fixture.
Head has been brilliant in the last few innings and has scored 324 runs at an average of 54.00 and a strike rate of 214.00. He scored a century when he last played against RCB and we expect him to continue playing well.
Natarajan is Hyderabad’s most successful bowler this season with 10 wickets. He picked up a 4-fer in his last outing and looks in fine form. He also has an excellent record against RCB and has picked up 10 wickets against them at a strike rate of 17.04.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be fighting for survival as they take on the rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday. The match will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium.
Both teams have faced each other in 23 matches to date. The Sunrisers have won 13 of those matches, while RCB has won 10.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are in blazing form, especially with the bat, and have won 5 of the 7 matches played so far. The team finds itself in 3rd place on the points table, and a win here will greatly bolster its playoff chances.
The opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head has been relentless in its attack during the Powerplay. The duo smashed an incredible 125 runs during the first 6 overs against DC to propel the team to yet another 250+ score. No other team has a higher strike-rate during the first six overs than SRH.
With the likes of Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Abdul Samad following them, there is often no respite for the opposition bowlers. Markets like Most Sixes, Most Fours, and sessions markets for the first 6 overs, first 10 overs etc have been paying off handsomely for bettors that have back SRH so far.
Sunrisers’ bowling too has been at the receiving end of some big totals and that is something that the team needs to work on. If batsmen fail to get going, SRH will be vulnerable to a loss as most of their frontline bowlers, including Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mayank Markande, Jaydev Unadkat, and Washington Sundar have gone for over 10 runs per over.
T Natarajan and Pat Cummins have bowled better in comparison, picking up 19 wickets between them.
Things have been going well for SRH and they are in a much better space than RCB. Their high-risk approach has brought them high-reward so far but a spectacular collapse is always on the cards as well.
RCB faced yet another heartbreak on Sunday as they were defeated by KKR in a thrilling encounter. The team has now lost 6 consecutive matches and is placed last on the table.
Despite the loss, RCB will take a few positives from the match and will build up on that. Even as the opening pair of Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli suffered a rare failure, the middle order batting including Rajat Patidar, Will Jacks, and Suyash Prabhudessai stepped up to keep the team in the hunt during the massive chase.
Dinesh Karthik remains the quintessential finisher and is second on the list of top run-getters for the team.
The batting may not have the depth that SRH has but it is still a pretty dangerous lineup. It can coutner the SRH team if the match is relatively medium scoring in nature.
The bowling has been a big disappointment for RCB. Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, and Lockie Ferguson are the top seamers in the squad but they haven’t had the desired impact. The spinners too have struggled with Karn Sharma picking up only 1 wicket in 2 matches.
RCB has made many changes and even brought back players that it had dropped just a few matches back. Being unsure about their choices is not a good place to be in when going up against the most dangerous batting lineup of IPL 2024.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first. Six out of the previous ten matches in Hyderabad has veen won by the team that has batted first. Also, both RCB and SRH would like to bat first and finish the contest effectively in the first inning itself by getting to a massive total.
The first match of the season played here saw an aggregate of over 500 runs, and that shows the pitch heavily favors the batsmen. The surface is likely to be hard and devoid of green grass, with plenty of bounce. The team batting first should aim for a score over 200 runs. The bowlers have very little margin for error.
The weather is likely to be warm with temperatures of between 31 and 35 degrees.
While both teams have an almost even record in the past head-to-head encounters, this season has shown SRH to be a far more well-balanced team compared to RCB and start this match as the favorites to win. However, given the fact that RCB is desperate to turn things around and has some quality players of its own, we are expecting another thriller.
