Total fours for Mumbai Indians to be over 16.5
The Indians fell just short of the mark when they scored 15 boundary fours in their previous match. The away team will be power-packed with boundary-hitters looking to make a menace of themselves. The nature of the surface should aid them too.
First method of dismissal to be caught by a fielder
This would be the safer approach. The first dismissal of the Sunrisers’ previous match was Abhishek Sharma caught by sub fielder Raj Bawa. The third and fourth dismissals were also catches taken by fielders.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise last won the IPL in 2016 and may be waiting a while longer after a string of forgettable matches recently. Mumbai Indians are one of only two franchises to win the IPL five times. The blue and gold outfit finished tenth in 2024. The Mumbai team should have the ability to creep up the table after their current position in the bottom half.

The record between the teams in their past five matches against each other has largely gone the way of the men in blue. The visitors have won four of the past five matches against Hyderabad. The team in orange won one of the two matches in 2023. Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this year.
Mumbai Indians are destined to set foot in the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to face Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. This IPL fixture will be available to the Indian audience on both the Star Sports Network and the JioHotstar app.
Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the second-highest successful run chase in IPL history by scoring 247 for two inside the 19th over against Punjab Kings. This feat was spearheaded by Abhishek Sharma's explosive 141 runs off 55 balls. That knock was the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history. His innings featured ten sixes and 14 fours.
Travis Head complemented this performance with a rapid 66 off 37 balls, contributing to a 171-run opening partnership.
Ishan Kishan has added depth to the batting order, delivering an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls in a match against Rajasthan Royals earlier this season. Heinrich Klaasen has been a consistent performer in the middle order with 210 runs this tournament, despite no score over 50. Emerging talents like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Aniket Verma have also made significant contributions. Reddy has two IPL fifties. Verma continues to hold a batting strike rate over 180.
Captain Cummins has led by example for the bowlers. He took three wickets for 26 runs in the recent match against Mumbai Indians. Fellow pacer Eshan Malinga took two wickets in the same innings.
Mohammed Shami and Harshal Patel have been effective in containing runs during the powerplay and death overs. The pair have more than 270 IPL wickets combined. Spinner Rahul Chahar adds mystery and wickets with 75 IPL career wickets.

Mumbai Indians have experienced a resurgence in IPL 2025 from consecutive victories. Their dominant nine-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings came about from former captain Rohit Sharma’s heroics. In that match, Rohit Sharma returned to form with an unbeaten 76, marking his first half-century of the season. Rickelton has provided solid starts at the top of the order with 204 runs in the tournament, including a maiden IPL half-century.
Suryakumar Yadav leads the team's run-scoring chart with 333 runs. He hit 68 not out against Chennai. Yadav is followed by Tilak Varma with 231 runs. Captain Hardik Pandya's all-round capabilities have enhanced the team's balance.
The superstar has 2629 runs and 75 wickets in the IPL. Mitchell Santner is another all-round leader in the group after being at the forefront of leading the Black Caps to an ICC Champions Trophy final.
The bowling unit has been bolstered by Jasprit Bumrah's return. He claimed a double against the yellow of Chennai Super Kings. Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar have added experience and variety to the attack. The duo has more than 200 wickets in the IPL.

This could be a toss where the captains look to bowl first. Mumbai Indians have won three of their past four matches against Sunrisers Hyderabad by chasing.
The pitch at this venue is renowned for its flat and true bounce. Earlier this tournament, the ground saw the highest IPL total at the venue when the home team scored 286 for six by against Rajasthan Royals. The dry conditions may slightly assist the spinners, but the fast bowlers may struggle outside of the new ball. Sunrisers’ previous chase of their 246-run target elaborates the point.
The weather on matchday will be mostly sunny. The full wrath of the excessive temperatures will be felt on the day. There will be a small percentage of humidity too. Rain is not expected to interrupt this match.
The Mumbai Indians can claim the “favourites” position after beating the same opponents in Mumbai earlier this tournament. The home advantage for Sunrisers Hyderabad may bring their chances up a bit, but have largely struggled this year and in this match-up generally.
SRH vs MI win percentage stands at 59% in favor of MI.
