If you have a look at the past record between RCB and PBKS, you will find that PBKS had the higher opening partnership in 12 out of the previous 13 times they have played against RCB. Getting a price of 2x on this market is a fantastic deal.
Once again, we believe these are excellent odds being offered on a small ground which generally has a great batting surface. Just one player needs to cross 50 to help you win this wager.
With players like Maxwell, Green, and Du Plessis, all of whom are terrific six-hitters against a relatively weak PBKS side, we could see plenty of sixes. The line being offered is quite competitive in our opinion.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore lost pretty convincingly to the Chennai Super Kings while the Punjab Kings managed to get over the line against the Delhi Capitals. Neither team looked like a title winning side in their opening fixture but there is plenty of time to improve in the IPL. Will RCB get its first win against PBKS or will it be two on the trot for Shikar Dhawan and his men?
RCB and PBKS have played each other 31 times out of which PBKS has won 17 times and RCB just 14. Interestingly, Punjab Kings have won five out of the previous seven matches that they have played against RCB.
This match (and all other IPL matches) can be streamed live on the Jio Cinema app or broadcast live on the Star Sports network of channels.
RCB started the game well against CSK with Faf du Plessis looking quite fluent but the rest of the top order disappointed. Virat Kohli looked a bit out of touch, Rajat Patidar continues have a horrendous time at the crease, and Glenn Maxwell failed to score as well.
It took some late order heroics from Anuj Rawat and DInesh Karthik for RCB to be able to reach a somewhat competitive total. One match by itself should not be taken too seriously, though, and we still back Kohli, Maxwell, and Green to come good.
Maybe looking for a replacement for the short of confidence Rajat Patidar might be something that RCB can consider. Interestingly, while the bowling attack did not look very good in the previous match, we liked what we saw.
Cameron Green is an honest trier that will add some wicket-taking ability in the middle. He and Alzarri Joseph are also well equipeed to take advantage of the two bouncers rule. Mohammad Siraj is a proven performer and mayank Dar seemed a decent bowler as well.
The spin options are a bit thin but RCB is definitely a better team than what we saw in the previous match.
The Punjab Kings won their previous match but in a pretty ubconvincing manner. The bowling lineup looked a bit short of ideas and we thought they were lucky to benefit from terrible Delhi Capitals batting. Sam Curran, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshal Patel are not the top tier of bowlers in T20 cricket.
Kagiso Rabada is also perhaps not the bowler he was a few years ago.
Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar are both decent bowlers and match up quite nicely against players like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. This is where PBKS has to hope to make some serious inroads.
The batting lineup for PBKS is a quite strong. Shikhar Dhawan looked in fine touch before getting out. A big score for him could be around the corner. Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone are certainly batters that can win you matches on their own with ease. Their big hitting is going to be a big threat for RCB on a small grund where defending totals can be tricky.
Overall, though, we think PBKS is an average team that seems outclassed and outmatched against RCB.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Chasing is a big advantage in Bengaluru where even 10 an over can be chased with a fair bit of ease.
There is no rain forecast on match day and the temperatures are expected to be in their mid-thirties. We think the pitch should be very good for batting with a nice amount of pace and carry. The average first-inning score at the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been 181 but a winning first inning total is 198.
There have also been 20 sixes hit on average in the previous ten matches at the venue.
A lot of runs seem in store.
We are going to stick with the home team in this contest. RCB is a strong batting team with a lot of six-hitting power. PBKS also has the power in its lineup but we think that RCB's bowling attack and the presence of two world-class all-rounders in the middle will give it the edge.
