The Wankhede Stadium provides the batsmen plenty of opportunities to score runs. As both teams, especially SRH have some big strokeplayers, we are likely to see a couple of big overs.
Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma are among the most consistent openers this season. They have put together 361 runs at an average of 51.57, which is the best among all opening pairs this season.
Bumrah is the most successful bowler at the Wankhede this season and has picked up 10 wickets in 5 matches played here. He has also picked up at least 2 wickets in 3 of his last 4 outings on this ground.
After all but being knocked out of the season, the Mumbai Indians will be playing for pride on Monday as they host the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Wankhede Stadium.
Both teams have faced each other in 22 matches to date. The Mumbai Indians have a slight edge with 12 wins, while the Sunrisers Hyderabad have won 10.
This match will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
It has been a disappointing season for the Mumbai Indians. With just 3 wins in 11 matches, MI is languishing at the bottom of the points table and their qualification chances are just a mathematical probability.
It has been a collective failure of all players. Tilak Varma and Rohit Sharma are the top two run-getters for the team but they have been very inconsistent. Similarly, Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav who are both known for their fluent strokeplay have often struggled to get going.
But perhaps the biggest disappointment has been the batting from Hardik Pandya. The latter’s captaincy has been lackluster and has also affected the utilization of Tim David.
Jasprit Bumrah is a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy team and is among the top wicket-takers of the season with 17 wickets. However, alone, Bumrah has not been able to influence the matches for MI so far. The lack of wickets for the bowlers in the powerplay and during the middle overs has hurt MI a lot this season.
We don't see easy fixes for them right now.
Barring a few speedbumps, the Sunrisers have played well so far and are well in the race for a top 4 finish.
The Sunrisers’ batting, especially the opening pair, is among the strongest compared to other franchises. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma will look to give the team yet another flying start in this game, with batsmen like Heinrich Klaasen hoping to build up on that.
There is no question about the ability of SRH to hit massive sixes and buil big totals but the loss of early wickets can peg them back quite seriously.
SRH does need to improve its middle-order batting as it has often collapsed under pressure. The inclusion of Marco Jansen not only lends depth to the batting but also provides a valuable seam option. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar bowled an excellent spell and will be hoping to do more of the same.
He will join Pat Cummins, Jaydev Unadkat, and T Natarajan in the seam attack. The spin department does seem a bit understaffed.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Wankhede Stadium usually offers good batting surfaces. The average first-inning score here this season is around 186 but the team batting first will aim for the 200-run mark. The bowlers have very little margin for error.
The weather is likely to be warm and humid and the dew might play a role in the second half.
While Mumbai is a strong team on paper and is also playing on home turf, its performance has been far from perfect and they are likely to struggle yet again. SRH has a stronger batting lineup and more importantly, it is a better led team with confidence coming into this contest.
Bet on the Sunrisers Hyderabad to win.
