The Mumbai Indians have had better luck at the toss compared to CSK, winning it in 3 of their 5 matches. On the other hand, CSK has won it just once at the same time.
Bumrah is in sensational form this season and has picked up 10 wickets at an average of 11.90. 7 of those wickets have come in the last two matches. Playing on his home turf, Bumrah is likely to bowl another good spell in this match. As always, we follow form over everything else!
The pitch at the Wankhede is known to be excellent to bat on. The boundaries here aren’t the longest and with the kind of batting prowess both teams possess, we are bound to see a couple of high-scoring overs.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have been in good form since the last couple of matches, putting up partnerships of 80 and 101 runs. On the other hand, the opening pair of CSK, particularly Rachin Ravindra, is yet to get going.
The El Clasico of IPL 2024 is just around the corner as the Mumbai Indians are set to host the Chennai Super Kings this Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium.
Both teams have faced each other in 38 matches to date. The Mumbai Indians have an edge here with 21 wins, while the Chennai Super Kings have won 17.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
After a less-than-ideal start to the season, the Mumbai Indians are back in business by scoring back-to-back victories, and that too by healthy margins. As a result, they have climbed up to the 7th place in the points table.
Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have given the team a strong start in the last two matches and the same will be expected from them in this match too. The overall batting too has seen a massive improvement. Suryakumar Yadav was in prime form against RCB as he smashed 52 from just 19 deliveries. He, along with Tim David and Romario Shepherd can add important runs towards the death overs.
With Tilak Varma also looking in good form, MI has an abundance of match winners in their playing eleven at the moment.
Jasprit Bumrah picked up a fifer on Thursday and moved to the top of the list of the top wicket-takers of the season. He has received good support from Gerald Coetzee and Akash Madhwal. Spin does seem to be the Achilles heel for MI as Mohammad Nabi and Shreyas Gopal are yet to settle into a rhythm.
The defending champions have been a bit inconsistent this season and have lost 2 of the 5 matches played so far. While these are still early stages of the tournament, CSK will want to get into a winning momentum to climb up the table.
Shivam Dube and Ruturaj Gaikwad are in good form and have scored a half-century each. However, they will need to perform better as they have their toughest test of the season. Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra made it into the squad with plenty of expectations riding on them but are yet to prove their worth with both, the bat as well as the ball.
We think both Rachin Ravindra and Daryll Mitchell will enjoy the ball coming on to the bat in Mumbai.
Talking about the bowling, Mustafizur Rahman remains the key bowler for CSK. He has scalped 9 wickets in 4 matches at an average of 14.22. He will be supported by Tushar Deshpande and Shardul Thakur in the seam department.
Coming to spin, Ravindra Jadeja and Maheesh Theekshana picked up 4 wickets between them in the last match and could yet again play an important role at the Wankhede.
The fact of the matter is that while CSK has the batting to put up a big fight against the Mumbai Indias, its bowling is a bit wobbly.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first. That is a huge advantage at the Wankhede Stadium where 7 out of the last 10 matches have been won by the team that has chased. Make sure you take this incot account while placing your bets.
The Wankhede Stadium has already seen a couple of high-scoring matches this season. The average first-inning score in the last 2 matches played here is around 200 and that is what the team batting first will aim for.
The pitch is likely to play the same throughout the match. If anything, it actually becomes a bit better to bat as the game progresses. There is a good amount of bounce and pace for the batsmen to work with. The bowlers, especially the seamers, will need to be spot-on with their line and length.
The weather is likely to be warm and humid with temperatures of around 30 degrees.
MI and CSK are undoubtedly two of the strongest teams in the league and we can surely expect a close contest. We feel that the Mumbai Indians have a slight edge in this match thanks to its deeper batting line-up and an in-form seam attack.
Bet on the Mumbai Indians to win.
