Punjab Kings To Win, 2.01
We think both PBKS and LSG have excellent batting lineups but LSG's bowling is unconvincing
Shreyas Iyer is in the form of his life and his batting against spin is a big advantage as well
LSG is very dependent on Nicholas Pooran. If he gets out early, the team may struggle.
This could be a safe bettor’s dream. This bet is highly likely to come to fruition. The first ball of the Kings’ previous match was a dot ball. The opening overs between the Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans featured eight dot balls in total.
This should be a low-risk bet. In both innings when Lucknow Super Giants took on Delhi Capitals, the first two wickets came from catches taken by fielders.
Punjab Kings were involved in a high-scoring entertainer between themselves and Gujarat Titans. Getting over the line in a close game will boos their morale. The Lucknow Super Giants may feel slightly deflated over failing to get over the line against the Delhi Capitals. The comeback against SRH was exceptional but we think their bowling is a major weak link.

The Lucknow Super Giants are a relatively new franchise to the IPL after joining in 2022. The teams have only played four matches against each other in that time. Lucknow have won three times and Punjab have won once.
Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings will meet each other at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow for this IPL fixture. The match will be broadcast in India on the Star Sports Network and live-streamed on the JioHotstar app on Saturday, 1 April 2025.
Aiden Markram is expected to anchor the top order while also offering handy off-spin. The brute batting force of Mitchell Marsh will also show its might against the new ball. Marsh hit a half-century against Sunrisers after being subbed in.
Explosive left-handed West Indian Nicholas Pooran may join the South African or Australian for the fun in the powerplay. Pooran has 421 runs in his last ten IPL innings with a batting average over 60 and a batting strike rate over 200.
Rishabh Pant has been given a massive opportunity with the captaincy to take ownership of the team. He will be responsible for the team beyond just his brutal batting, but in the field as well. Pant has over 3000 IPL runs.
South African David Miller is among the most accomplished white-ball finishers in the world. The middle-order batter has one century and 13 half-centuries in the IPL. Youngsters Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad further extend the batting depth with impactful cameos down the order. 24-year-old Samad is one run short of 600 runs in his IPL career.
All-rounder Shardul Thakur provides a useful option at number seven with clutch hitting and a knack for timely wickets. The bowling all-rounder took four wickets in his previous IPL match.
Pacer Avesh Khan will be hoping to recapture his best form which saw him get a taste of playing in the blue of India. He has 27 T20I wickets for India. Khan is supported by the raw pace of newcomer Prince Yadav. Spin duties lie with proven wicket-taker Ravi Bishnoi. The leg-spinner has 66 IPL wickets.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer anchors the batting with class and stability. He has continued to show attacking intent since returning from injury. Iyer was undoubtedly the best batter on show against Gujarat with an unbeaten 97 runs.
The explosive wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya in his debut IPL season are expected to provide brisk starts while being in stellar domestic form. Arya started with 47 runs with a strike rate over 200 against the Titans.
Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis bring proven international experience. Maxwell’s dynamic power-hitting and off-spin combined with Stoinis’ finishing firepower and handy seam bowling will keep the side in the game across both innings. Australian Stoinis has 1886 IPL runs and 43 IPL wickets.
The Kings bolster a middle order that also features Shashank Singh, one of last season’s breakout finishers, and youngster Suryansh Shedge. Both local Indian talents add late-innings punch to the batting. Singh added the finishing touches with a quickfire 44 not out off 16 balls in his previous IPL innings. Afghan recruit Azmatullah Omarzai offers utility with both bat and ball as a seam-bowling all-rounder.
The 25-year-old has almost 1300 runs in T20s.
Left-arm spearheads Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen lead with swing and bounce. Both will do a sterling job in the death overs too. Singh took two wickets against Gujarat. Left-arm quick Jansen has over 20 IPL wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal’s guile in the middle overs provides a wicket-taking thrust.

The option at the toss that both captains choose could be to bat first and put runs on the board. Three of the four results in the head-to-heads have been won by batting first. Punjab also won their first game of this season by batting first.
Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium pitch has generally been slow, low and conducive to turn, historically ranking among the least batter-friendly surfaces in the IPL. In the most recent season, however, the track has shown mixed behaviour.
Lucknow Super Giants at home to Punjab Kings in 2024 produced a near-200 first-innings total on a truer wicket. Other matches have been sluggish with batters struggling once the pitch and ball got older and slower. Spinners typically find plenty of grip and assistance here while pace bowlers rely on cutters into the pitch.
Teams batting first have enjoyed a clear advantage on this surface with most wins at Lucknow coming when defending a total.
If you want some hot conditions and no chance of rain to give us a full T20 game of cricket, you’re in luck now.

We think PBKS has a slight advantage thanks to its better balanced side. LSG is very top heavy and if it loses a couple of wickets early, its batting could be exposed. Also, we think PBKS has a stronger and more reliable batting lineup. Shreyas Iyer as captain is also an advantage for the Punjab Kings.
LSG vs PBKS win percentage stands at 51% in favor of LSG.
