The Delhi Capitals have enjoyed good luck when it comes to winning the toss. The team has won it in 3 of its last 4 outings, compared to twice for the Super Giants.
Both the matches played at Lucknow this season have seen at least 13 wickets fall. Also, each of the last 3 matches played by LSG and 3 of the last 5 matches played by DC have seen 13 or more wickets fall in them. With the batting for DC being rather inconsistent, we are expecting plenty of wickets to fall in this match.
Tristan Stubbs has shown excellent form in the last few matches, scoring at least 44 runs in 3 of his last 4 outings. He has also scored back-to-back half-centuries in the last 2 matches. As the batting around him has been inconsistent, Stubbs has a good chance of being the top scorer for his team. He may also be shifted up the order in this match.
Lucknow Super Giants To Win the Match
The Delhi Capitals will be looking to get themselves off the bottom of the table as they take on the Lucknow Super Giants on Friday. The match will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Both teams have faced each other in 3 matches to date, and all 3 of them have been won by LSG.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or can be watched live on the Star Sports Network.
After losing the opening match against Rajasthan Royals, the Lucknow Super Giants have come back strongly to win 3 consecutive matches and have climbed up to the 3rd spot on the points table.
Much of Lucknow’s success has been powered by a strong batting line-up. Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul have given the team some brisk starts, while Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis provided heft to the middle order. Pooran is the top run-getter for the team with 178 runs scored at a strike rate of 169.52.
He has also been electric in the field, picking up 5 catches. In addition, LSG has the services of Krunal Pandya, Devdutt Padikkal, and Ayush Badoni, providing depth to the batting.
The seamers have done an excellent job so far. Yash Thakur and Mayank Yadav have picked up 6 wickets each, while Naveen Ul-Haq has 5 against his name. Yash Thakur picked up a fifer in the last fixture and was key to handing LSG its 3rd consecutive win.
Ravi Bishnoi has struggled a bit and managed to pick only 2 wickets in 4 games.
With just 1 win from 5 matches, the Delhi Capitals are one of the worst-performing teams of the season and are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table. While there are plenty of matches yet to be played, the team will look to get back to winning ways before it gets too late.
The opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner has been a bit inconsistent and will need to give the team a strong start in this match. Shaw was in good touch in the last match as he scored 66 from just 40 deliveries. There are some talented batsmen in the middle order too, including Rishabh Pant, Abhishek Porel, and Tristan Stubbs.
But again, they haven’t been able to score the big runs needed to lift the team. Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje have done a good job with the new ball. Ahmed is the leading wicket-taker for the team with 7 wickets, while Nortje has taken 6.
They will be supported by Ishant Sharma and Jhye Richardson, while the spin attack consists of Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at the Ekana Stadium is generally good to bat on. There is plenty of pace and bounce on offer with the new ball and the batsmen will be able to play their shots with confidence. However, the pace wears off as the ball gets softer and the pitch gets older, and there will also be some turn on offer.
Anything over 180 runs will be a bit tricky to chase on this ground.
The weather is likely to be warm at around 30 degrees Celsius.
The Lucknow Super Giants have been clinical in their performance over the last few days and have excelled in all departments. On the other hand, the Delhi Capitals are likely to struggle against such a quality opposition.
Bet on the Lucknow Super Giants to win.
