Phil Salt and Sunil Narine are on a roll this season. The duo has put together 553 runs, making them one of the most successful opening pair. On the other hand, Kishan and Rohit Sharma have averaged only 34.66.
Narine has been very consistent with the bat this season. He has scored 3 half-centuries and a century so far and was the top batsman for KKR in 3 of his last 9 outings. Looking at his form, Narine has a good chance of playing yet another big inning.
The Eden Gardens is a high-scoring venue and has regularly seen totals of over 200 runs. With both teams having some clean strikers playing for them, we can expect at least one big over.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking to consolidate its position at the top of the points table as they host the Mumbai Indians this weekend. The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens.
Both teams have played 33 matches against each other so far. The Kolkata Knight Riders have won 10 of those matches, while the Mumbai Indians have won 23.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
The Knight Riders are in phenomenal form this season. The team has lost only 3 of the 11 matches played to date and is sitting at the top of the table with an excellent NRR. However, with teams like RR and SRH close on their heels, a win here will go a long way in ensuring a top-two finish.
Sunil Narine is in red-hot form with the bat as well as the ball. Narine has scored 461 runs at a strike rate of 183.66 and has also picked up 14 wickets. His partnership with Phil Salt has often got the team to flying starts. Looking at markets for KKR to have the higher opening partnership, sessions bet for 1-6 overs, and more are all to look for when KKR plays.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Shreyas Iyer, and Venkatesh Iyer provide stability to the middle order, while Rinku Singh and Andre Russell are the perfect finishers.
This is a dream batting lineup that also has the cushion of an impact player if needed.
Coming to the bowling, Narine has found a perfect partner in Varun Chakaravarthy who is the leading wicket-taker with 16 wickets. Harshit Rana has bowled well throughout the season, while Mitchell Starc seems to be peaking at the right time.
There were some concerns around the bowling lineup for KKR but as things stand, they seem to have most bases covered and are going to be very hard to stop.
The Mumbai Indians have endured a terrible season so far. With only 4 wins in 12 matches, the team is firmly placed in the bottom half of the table, and qualification to the playoffs is now impossible.
Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma started off well but have sputtered mid-season. The duo has struggled against the new ball and failed to put up meaningful partnerships in the last few matches. Rohit has an excellent record at the Eden Gardens, though, and that can sometimes help a player strike back into form.
There are two bright spots in the MI batting lineup in the form of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma.
Suryakumar Yadav was in belligerent form in the last match as he scored a scintillating century. He is another player with former ties to KKR and has fond memories of batting at Eden Gardens. The batting lower down the order has been uninspiring as well.
Pandya does not seem to be the striker that we saw a couple of years back while Tim David has not gotten enoguh time in the middle.
Hardik Pandya has bowled well in the last couple of games but Jasprit Bumrah remains the key bowler for MI. He is also the leading wicket-taker of the season with 18 wickets. Piyush Chawla is still making an impact but that in itself tells a story abnout the Mumbai Indians.
This bowling lineup could struggle massively against the strong KKR batting lineup.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first. Seven out of the previous ten IPL matches have been won by the team that has chased.
There is a bit of rian around and we may have some interruptions. Hopefully, the match is completed and we get a fair amount of overs for a good contest. Keep in mind that the shorter the match, the more of a lottery it becomes.
The pitch in Kolkata has been excellent for the batsmen this season. The average first-inning score in the 6 matches played here so far is 204. The team batting first will need to post a big total if they want to put the opposition under any sort of pressure. The quicker bowlers will get some help if they bowl a good line and length while the spinners have often leaked runs.
The Mumbai Indians enjoy an excellent record against the Kolkata Knight Riders in previous seasons but they haven’t performed to the same level this time around. On the other hand, KKR has excelled in all departments.
Bet on the Kolkata Knight Riders to win.
