The batsmen have enjoyed tremendous success in Kolkata and the 5 matches played here have seen an average run rate of 11.05. As both teams have some of the cleanest strikers of the ball, we can expect another run-fest.
Fraser-McGurk has scored 3 half-centuries this season and was the top batsman for his team in 4 of his 5 outings. With such mouth-watering odds on offer, backing Fraser-McGurk is a no-brainer.
Narine has been in brilliant form with the bat and the ball. He has picked up at least 2 wickets in 2 of his last 3 outings at the Eden Gardens. Sunil Narine has picked up 8 wickets against the Capitals in this stadium and we are backing him to bowl another good spell.
The Kolkata Knight Riders will be looking to hold on to their place in the top 4 as they host the Delhi Capitals for match number 47 in the ongoing IPL season. The two teams will face off at the Eden Gardens on Monday.
The two teams have faced each other in 33 matches to date. The Delhi Capitals have won 16 of those matches, while KKR has won 17.
This match can be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App or watched live on the Star Sports Network.
KKR was left stunned by the Punjab Kings on Friday as the latter chased down a record target of 262. In the process, KKR suffered its 3rd defeat of the season. Nevertheless, the team continues to hold on to the 2nd place on the table.
KKR’s batting has been pretty solid this season. They have posted 5 totals of 200+ runs, 2 of which have been over 250. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt make up for a brutal opening pair. The duo has scored 406 runs at an average of 50.75 and a phenomenal run rate of 12.36.
Narine has been the surprise package and has scored an aggregate of 357 and is second in the race for the Orange Cap. Shreyas Iyer, Ramandeep Singh, and Venkatesh Iyer make up a stable middle order, while Rinku Singh and Andre Russell are the perfect finishers with the bat.
It is hard to find any real weaknesses in this batting lineup.
The bowling on Friday, except for Narine, was very ordinary, and that will be something the team will look to improve. With Mitchell Starc suffering an injury, the pace attack will heavily rely on Harshit Rana and Dushmantha Chameera.
KKR has struggled to defend big totals but its batting has bailed it out so far. There is no doubt that the bowlers will be under pressure going up against an in form DC batting lineup.
The Delhi Capitals pulled off a convincing victory over the Mumbai Indians on Saturday, which was their 5th win of the season. As a result, the team has climbed up to the 5th place on the table and has improved their chances of making it to the playoffs.
Jake Fraser-McGurk was once again in belligerent form. He smashed his 3rd half-century of the season in just 15 deliveries to help propel his team to its highest-ever IPL total of 257 runs. He will look to give the team yet another strong start along with Abhishek Porel.
While McGurk has added an immediate boost to the batting lineup, we are not too convinced about Porel.
Shai Hope, who was having a relatively quiet season, slammed 41 runs off 17 balls, while Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs continue to score boundaries at will. With players like Axar Patel and Kumar Kushagra coming in lower down the order, DC has a long batting line-up.
This rejigging of the batting order to add muscle in the middle is paying off big time for DC.
Axar has also bowled well to pick up 7 wickets and will bowl in tandem with Kuldeep Yadav. The pace attack consists of Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar, who have 25 wickets between them. Rasikh Salam has proved to be an excellent revelation and has picked up consecutive 3-wicket hauls.
DC's bowling lineup has been able to do just enough to get their team over the line in the past few matches but the lack of experience is evident and could cost it soon.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Eden Gardens has proved to be a batsman’s paradise this season, with an average first-inning score of 215 runs.
The Punjab Kings chased down 262 runs here on Friday and that shows no total is safe. There is very little margin for error for the bowlers, especially the seamers. The slower bowlers can expect some turn if they hit the right areas.
The weather will be warm, with temperatures of over 32 degrees.
While the Delhi Capitals didn’t have the best of starts, the team seems to be peaking in form just at the right time. They have now won 4 of their last 5 matches and will be raring to avenge the loss against KKR earlier in the season. Even though KKR has played well this season, we feel that the Capitals might just squeeze through with a win.
Bet on the Delhi Capitals to win.
