Mumbai Indians To Win, 1.83
Both teams have lost their opening match and seem to have some clear difficulties to manage
GT has a strong top-3 but then its batting quickly weakens. This makes it very susceptible to early wickets.
Hardik Pandya will be back for MI and that will help them immensely in terms of balance
This is an excellent opportunity in our opinion. The previous match at the venue saw each team well in excess of 11 sixes each. MI has a strong batting lineup with multiple six-hitters. Go big on this one.
Teams have an extra batter thanks to the Impact player rule and are playing more freely than ever. As a result, more wickets are being lost. We think there is a good chance that more than 12.5 wickets will be lost.
The Gujarat Titans and the Mumbai Indians are looking for their first win of IPL 2025 after convincing losses in their opening matches. GT scored 225 runs, but it was not enough as a late-inning slowdown cost them heavily. MI, on the other hand, struggled without Hardik Pandya and will be happy he is available for this crucial match.

The Gujarat Titans have played against the Mumbai Indians five times. Three of those matches have been won by the Gujarat Titans and two by the Mumbai Indians. Interestingly, Gujarat Titans have won all their matches at home against Mumbai Indians.
Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Saturday, 29 March 2025. This IPL match will be available in India on the Star Sports Network TV broadcast and the JioHotstar app live-streaming.
The Gujarat Titans have a very strong top-3 with Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharshan, and Jos Buttler. This is their biggest strength and where the bulk of the runs have to come from. The batting lineup after this is a bit shaky. Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia are the Indian middle order batters while GT has the option to being in Glenn Phillips or Sherfane Rutherford.
We think the team is going to be susceptible to early wickets but on days where its top-3 scores well, GT is going to be tough to stop. The middle order is powerful on paper but it is nowhere near as dependable as GT would like it to be.
The bowling attack is led by Rashid Khan. He is as good as they get in T20 cricket and his four overs can be banked upon. Kagiso Rabada is another world-class bowler with an excellent record in the IPL but there is a question that his best days may be behind him.
GT gave away 245 runs in the previous match and that would have dented their confidence. Mohammad Siraj and Arshad Khan ended up being too expensive and we don't have enough confidence in them to be able to turn things around instantly.
Shubman Gill (c), Jos Buttler (wk), Sai Sudharsan, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Arshad Khan, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna
Not having Hardik Pandya available for selection cost the Mumbai Indians very heavily. Not only is he their skipper, but he is also their opening bowler and a powerful hitter of the ball in the middle overs. There is no other player in India like him, and replacing him was never an option.
Thankfully for Mumbai Indians, he will be back for this crucial match at the venue where he led GT to an IPL win three years back. Robin Minz is going to be the one who misses out in our opinion.
With Rohit Sharma, SKY, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya, the Mumbai Indians have a very strong batting lineup. They also have Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks, two players who would love the surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium. We will back this lineup to score more runs, hit more sixes, and eventually help their team come out on top.
The bowling lineup for Mumbai is more of a concern. Trent Boult is no longer playing international cricket and we may see a drop in quality. Hardik Pandya can be expensive and Deepak Chahar is also limited to bowling in the powerplay.
This is where Pandya has to be creative with his bowling unit and perhaps rely on Mitch Santner to bowl the crucial overs.
Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton (wk), Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, Hardik Pandya (c), Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Satyanarayana Raju
Six out of the previous ten IPL matches played in Ahmedabad have been won by the team that has batted first. We think that is what the captain who wins the toss is likely to do.
The pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium is very good for batting. Scores of over 200 have been hit in five out of the previous IPL innings. Over 450 runs were hit in the first match played here in IPL 2025. Pace bowlers have picked up 64 wickets compared to 31 by spinners in the previous 10 IPL matches here.
We expect 200 to be the minimum that teams aim for but 230 could be on the cards once more.
The weather for this match will be excellent. It will be hot with low humidity. There is no chance of rain.
GT and MI have both lost their opening matches but this is a long tournament and there is time to recover. MI has a deep squad filled with a number of Indian national players that we think will hold them in good stead. The return of Hardik Pandya could galvanize the team to its first win of IPL 2025.
GT vs MI win percentage is currently at 53% in favor of MI.
