DC made a few common sense changes to its lineup and immediately looked a much better team. They brought in Prithvi Shaw to open the batting with David Warner who made an immediate impact. Ishant Sharma was also fit again to be selected and added quality to the bowling lineup.

Runs for Shaw, Marsh, and Pant meant that DC was finally able to post a competitive total. Are all their batting issues sorted then? No, not at all. It is easy to see how just one or two early wickets can leave DC in a fair bit of trouble. There is hope, though, that runs from Marsh and Stubbs are yet to really come.

With Axar Patel and Abhishek Porel in the lineup, DC does have a bit of depth to count on. A lot of things need to go right for the DC batting to come good but it is looking more possible than before.

The bowling lineup for DC was very impressive against KKR. Khaleel Ahmed was the standout bowler and will be the one that everyone looks to early on against Salt and Narine. Anrich Nortje has genuine pace, again a possible weapon against Russell, while Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav will try to boss the middle overs.

The bowling is DC's real strength and where it can gain an upper hand in this contest.

Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knight Riders blitzed their opponents in Bengaluru. Sunil Narine can be incredibly hard to stop when he comes off and he did that in spectacular fashion in the previous match. Phil Salt is also proving to be such a smart buy for KKR with a brilliant strike rate at the top of the order.

Salt was released by DC and he may have a point to prove!

Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Rinku Singh, and Andre Russell give KKR a massive advantage when it comes to batting depth. They are filled with potential match winners throughout their batting order and can afford to keep attacking even when they lose wickets.

Looking at the kind of conditions that we saw at Vishakapatnam in the previous match, we like Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer to make an impact in this match.

The bowling attack for KKR is not the greatest but they know how to make the most of their resources. They have Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy as spinners, possibly Anukul Roy is the wicket seems to be a bit dry, and Mitchell Starc as the spearhead of the attack.

Starc has gone for a 100 runs in his 8 overs bowled during IPL 2024 so far! It has been Harshit Rana and Andre Russell who have picked up the slack. The bowling lineup does not seem the strongest right now but it can be quite decent on its day.

The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. The pitch got a bit slower as the match went on and became more difficult to score on.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Visakhapatnam are expected to be quite good for cricket. There is no rain forecast and the temperatures are in their late twenties to early thirties. The pitch for the previous match was a bit slow and run-scoring became difficult once the ball became older.

There was also some swing on offer under lights. We think a score of around 170-180 is going to be quite competitive at this venue.
