Heinrich Klaasen to score Over 23.5
Klaasen is the leading run-scorer for SRH and has an average of over 40 this season. He has scored at least 24 runs in 7 of his 8 outings so far. We are therefore backing him to play a good knock here.
Highest opening partnership Sunrisers Hyderabad
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head are among the best opening pair in the last couple of years. They have scored 316 runs this season at an average of 39.50. On the other hand, CSK is struggling to find the right pair for the opening slot.
The Chennai Super Kings will be desperate for a win as they host the Sunrisers Hyderabad for a bottom-of-the-table clash in the ongoing Indian Premier League. The two teams will play at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai on Friday.

The two teams have faced each other in 21 matches to date. The Super Kings have an advantage here with 15 victories compared to 6 for the Sunrisers.

The Chennai Super Kings are struggling at the moment. They have managed to win only 2 of the 8 matches played so far and are languishing at the bottom of the points table. Their NRR is also the worst among all teams. With only 6 more matches to be played including this one, time is running out for CSK if they want to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The batting has been one of the biggest weaknesses of CSK this season. The team has struggled to find the right opening combination. With Devon Conway missing the previous match due to personal issues and his availability for this match not yet confirmed, CSK could start with Shaik Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra. Ravindra has got some decent starts but the team will need him to stay for 8-10 overs and make a big score.
The middle order is reeling under the loss of Ruturaj Gaikwad. While his replacement, Ayush Mhatre did play well on his IPL debut, it remains to be seen how he performs going ahead. Shivam Dube is the highest-scoring batsman for CSK this season and will be supported by Ravindra Jadeja, Jamie Overton, and Vijay Shankar lower down the order.
Coming to the bowling, Noor Ahmad is among the top three wicket-takers of the tournament and will lead the spin department. Khaleel Ahmed has bowled well with the new ball. Matheesha Pathirana has been picking up wickets but is also quite expensive and will need to work on his line and length.
Shaik Rasheed, Rachin Ravindra, Ayush Mhatre, Shivam Dube, Vijay Shankar, Ravindra Jadeja Ravichandran Ashwin, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Jamie Overton, Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad
Just like their opponents, the Sunrisers Hyderabad are also struggling. The team is coming into this contest on the back of consecutive losses and will hope to turn things around.
The opening pair of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, which was SRH’s biggest strength last season, has failed to fire this time around. While they are both averaging around 30 runs, their batting is nowhere near the level where they were last year. Despite having a strong middle order made up of experienced batsmen like Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Aniket Verma, they have failed to take SRH to match-winning scores.
The only silver lining is Heinrich Klaasen, who has been pretty consistent in recent matches. He scored a brilliant half-century on Wednesday, albeit for a losing cause. SRH has bet heavily on its pace attack but that hasn’t paid off yet. Harshal Patel is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets while Pat Cummins has 7.
However, both have an economy rate of around 10 runs per over. Mohammed Shami, Jaydev Unadkat, and Eshan Malinga are also struggling. SRH needs to come up with something special if they want to win this match.
Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen (WK), Aniket Verma, Pat Cummins (C), Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Zeeshan Ansari, Eshan Malinga
6 of the last 10 matches played here have been won while chasing. In 7 of those games, the skipper opted to bowl first after winning the toss and we expect that trend to continue.
The pitch at Chennai hasn’t been the easiest to bat on and has an average first-inning score of 160 runs in the 4 matches played here this season. There is an even covering of grass on the surface and the seamers will be able to extract some movement with the new ball.
However, once the batsmen settle down, playing shots will get a bit easier. There are some dry patches as well and the spinners who vary their pace will enjoy plenty of success. A score of around 180.8₹ a par score on this ground.
The weather will be warm and humid and there will be some dew on the ground as the match goes on.
CSK and SRH are firmly in the bottom half of the IPL standings. They have only an outside chance of making the playoffs but in reality, neither team is likely to make it. SRH's batting has really struggled so far and we think CSK will be able to expose some of those weaknesses at home.
CSK vs SRH win percentage stands at 54% in favor of SRH.
