India’s openers have struggled on this tour and haven’t been able to cross the 16-run mark in both matches. As the team has yet to find a stable opening pair, we are expecting another weak start for them.
Mandhana’s recent record against Australia isn’t the best. She has scored 29 or more runs in only 2 of her last 6 innings against them. As she bats on another difficult track, her struggles are likely to continue.
Australia will be gunning for a clean sweep as it faces India for the 3rd and final ODI on Wednesday. The match will be played at WACA Ground in Perth.
The two teams have faced each other in 45 matches to date. Australia won 35 while India managed to win only 10.
This match will be live-streamed on the Disney+ Hotstar App. One can also watch it live on the Star Sports Network.
The hosts put up another authoritative performance on Sunday and already have an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the series.
Georgia Voll, who is making her international debut in this series has emulated her incredible domestic performances and scored a brilliant century to help Australia put up its highest ODI score against India. Ellyse Perry scored a century as well, while Phoebe Litchfield and Beth Mooney hit individual half-centuries.
The Australian top-order looks incredible and shouldn’t have much problem giving the team yet another good start. There is plenty of depth in Australia’s batting thanks to the presence of all-rounders like Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham, and Ashleigh Gardner but they have remained untested in this series.
Coming to the bowling, the selectors are unlikely to change the combination as the frontline bowlers including Megan Schutt, Kim Garth, Sophie Molineux, and Alana King are all in good touch.
India has looked completely out of depth on this tour and has failed to put up any sort of resistance. With the series already lost, they can only play to salvage some pride.
Playing without Shafali Verma, India is struggling to find a stable opening pair. The team has tried two combinations so far and has failed to get a good start from both. There were a lot of hopes for Smriti Mandhana but she has struggled in both games.
Richa Ghosh did score a half-century on Sunday and could retain her place in the opening slot. Harleen Deol has failed to make a comeback in her comeback series and has struggled with the bat. Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma got a decent start in the previous match but were unable to convert them into a big knock.
The bowlers have performed slightly better but that hasn’t prevented the Australian batters from going after them. All the Indian bowlers have gone for over 6 runs per over and that is something they will need to work on.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at the WACA is balanced and we can expect a good contest between the bat and the ball. The average first-inning score here is around 240. The surface is flat and hard and offers a good pace and bounce. It is one of the fastest wickets in the world and the seamers can expect a lot of help.
The weather is likely to be bright and sunny with temperatures of over 30 degrees.
Australia has dominated India in all aspects of the game and we are expecting that they will continue to play well. India will need to play out of its skin if they want to win.
