The pitch at the SuperSport Park usually favors the batsmen and scoring runs here is relatively easy. The average run rate here is 9.46. As both teams have some big strikers of the ball, we can expect a couple of big overs.
The bowlers, usually the spinners, have difficulty at this venue. Only 2 of the last 6 games played here have seen 13 or more wickets fall. As a result, we are unlikely to see plenty of wickets fall in this match.
With the four-match series hanging in the balance, South Africa will face off against India on Wednesday at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Both teams look to take an unassailable lead.
The two teams have faced each other in 29 matches to date. South Africa won 12 while India won 16. one match ended without a result.
This match will be live-streamed on the Jio Cinema App. You can also watch it live on the Sports 18 Network.
After losing the opening game, South Africa made a strong comeback on Sunday to level the series.
The bowling from the hosts was spot on as they kept the Indian batting unit under a tight leash.
Gerald Coetzee has the capability of generating some serious pace and will lead the seam attack in this game along with Marco Jansen. Andile Simelane is the 3rd seamer on the squad. He has been a bit inconsistent but given his record in the domestic circuit, could continue playing here.
Keshav Maharaj hasn’t picked up many wickets but his ability to dry up runs makes him indispensable during the middle overs. Tristan Stubbs was in top form with the bat in the previous match. He stood tall even as wickets fell around him at regular intervals and ensured that his team crossed the line.
David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen are yet to show their peak form, and the opening pair is a bit inconsistent as well.
India has squandered away an early lead in the series and will now have to fight here to keep the chances of winning alive.
The batting in the first match revolved around Sanju Samson, who was dismissed for a duck on Sunday. The other batsmen were unable to fill in and India was dismissed for a below-par total. Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav haven’t been in the best of forms, and that has added pressure to the middle order.
Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya added important runs during the middle overs and will retain their place. Rinku Singh has often been India’s finisher in the shortest format but has been unable to get after the opposition bowlers.
The Indian bowlers have done well though. Varun Chakravarthy got his first international fifer in T20s and will lead the spin department here. He has received good support from Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel. Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan will lead the pace attack.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first
The pitch at the SuperSport Park is excellent to bat on. The average first-inning score here is around 180 runs. The surface is hard with an even covering of grass. The ball comes onto the bat and the batsmen will enjoy playing their shots. The quicker bowlers can expect some help with the new ball while the spinners will have to earn their wickets.
The weather is likely to be cloudy with temperatures of around 24 degrees.
We are expecting another close contest here between the two teams. Going by how they played on Sunday, we feel that South Africa has an edge here, thanks to a strong batting unit. India’s batsmen, other than Samson, aren’t in the best of forms and that could cost them the game.
