The pitch in Pune is excellent to bat on, especially during the first innings. As both teams have some clean strikers of the ball, we are likely to see at least one big over in the match.
Buttler is the leading run-scorer for this tournament and has an average of 45.66 in his 3 innings. He has scored at least 45 runs in 3 of his last 5 innings against India, including two half-centuries. Seeing his good form, we reckon that he will play another good knock in this match.
India will face off against England for the 4th T20I of the 5-match series on Friday. The game will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
The two teams have faced each other in 27 matches. India has won 15 while England won 12.
This match can be watched live on Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
After an excellent performance in the first two games, India faltered in the 3rd T20 at Rajkot as they lost the game by 26 runs.
The batsmen are to take much of the blame for that loss and the team will hope to work on that before the next match starts. Sanju Samson, who was India’s leading run-scorer in the T20s in 2024, has struggled so far and is averaging just over 11 runs in 3 innings.
Similarly, Suryakumar Yadav has struggled against the quicker bowlers, getting dismissed by them in all the 3 matches. Hardik Pandya played a gritty knock of 40 runs but that came at a slow pace, putting pressure on the likes of Dhruv Jurel and Axar Patel.
Mohammed Shami wore the Blue jersey after a gap of almost 14 months but remained wicketless. However, he will likely retain his place in the pace department.
Varun Chakravarthy has been brilliant with his spin bowling throughout this series. He picked up a fifer on Tuesday and is the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 10 wickets. He will have the support of Ravi Bishnoi and Axar Patel in the middle overs.
After going two-down in the series, England fought back well to keep the series alive and will aim to level it on Friday.
With Phil Salt struggling at one end, there will be a lot of pressure on Ben Duckett to give the team a solid start. He scored an excellent half-century at Rajkot and seems to be in fine form. Jos Buttler has played well too, and is the leading run-scorer of the tournament.
Liam Livingstone stepped up as well in the previous match as he scored a brisk 43 runs. However, the likes of Harry Brook, Jamie Overton, and Jamie Smith need to play better. While Adil Rashid has picked up only 3 wickets so far, he has kept things tight at one end and has an economy rate of under 6 runs per over.
Rashid's impact was undoubtedly brilliant in the previous two matches but he will be tested on pitches which don't offer the same kind of turn.
Brydon Carse and Jofra Archer are England’s leading wicket-takers for this tournament with 5 wickets each.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch at Pune is usually good to bat on, especially during the first half. Each of the last two matches played here has seen a first-inning score of over 200 runs. However, as the pitch has black soil, it tends to slow down as the game progresses and the spinners will get some help.
Anything over 170 will be difficult to chase here. The weather will remain pleasant with temperatures of around 21 degrees.
We are backing India in winning this match. The hosts have a strong spin attack that is led by Varun Chakravarthy, who has been in red-hot form. Also, most of the Indian batsmen, especially from the top order, have played well. England’s batting has been below par on several occasions.
Bet on India to win.
