Ben Duckett and Phil Salt have been consistent as opening pairs for England. In the 7 matches they have opened, they have an average of 49.00 and have scored at least 26 runs in 6 of those games. We are therefore expecting another good start for the visitors.
Just 1 of the last 5 ODIs played at Ahmedabad have seen 17 or more wickets fall. As the bowling from England hasn’t been the best, we expect that trend to continue.
Having already won the series, India will aim for a clean sweep as it faces England for the last ODI on Wednesday. The two teams will clash at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The two teams have faced each other in 109 matches so far. India won 60 while England won 44. 3 ended without any result while 2 were tied.
This match can be watched live on Disney+ Hotstar App and Star Sports Network.
India put up a clinical performance in the second ODI as it defeated the visitors by 4 wickets. With the Champions Trophy fast approaching, the team seems to have settled into a good rhythm.
The batting unit seems pretty solid at the moment. India dropped Yashasvi Jaiswal to bring in Virat Kohli. While the latter hasn’t been in the best of forms, he is a quality batsman who can play a match-winning role on his day.
Another batsman who wasn’t in good form at the start of this series was Rohit Sharma. However, he came back strongly to slam his 31st ODI century and lay the foundation for a match-winning chase. With the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Shubman Gill batting well in both matches, India has a strong batting unit at its disposal.
The bowling attack is pretty balanced as well. Varun Chakravarthy has a memorable debut as he scalped Phil Salt in his 2nd Over. He will join Ravindra Jadeja in the spin departments.
With Jasprit Bumrah likely to make a return to the playing XI, Harshit Rana could be dropped. Mohammed Shami will retain his place in the pace attack.
England is having a forgettable outing and has plenty of things to work on before the Champions Trophy begins. Since this is the last match before the start of the marquee tournament, England will hope to gain some momentum.
The opening pair of Phil Salt and Ben Duckett has given the team good starts in both the ODIs so far and will look to do the same in this match as well. However, the team will need at least one of them to carry on and play a big knock.
The middle-order batting has been the weakest link for the visitors in this tournament. While Joe Root did score a half-century, he will need better support from Harry Brook, Jos Buttler, and Jamie Overton. Overton did bowl well in the last match to pick up 2 wickets.
He is likely to join Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson in the pace department while Adil Rashid retains his place as the spinner.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitches in Ahmedabad have been well-balanced during the last few matches and we expect a similar surface for this game as well. The new ball has quite a bit of movement and the batsmen facing the new ball will have to settle down before they start playing the big shots. The par score here is around 280 and anything over 300 will be difficult to chase.
The weather will remain clear with temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees.
We are backing India in winning this match. They have been excellent during this tour and have hardly put a foot wrong. India has a strong batting line-up with plenty of depth and a well-balanced bowling attack.
Bet on India to win.
