The West Indians may contain their South African counterparts for the opening over. The South African opening batting pair only managed five runs against Australia Masters in their previous game. There is an element of risk to this bet, but could be profitable.
This will be a high-risk bet, but potentially a wise choice. The strength of the West Indian Masters bowling attack could trouble the Proteas Masters inside the powerplay. Henry Davids was first to go against the Australian Masters when he departed on the second ball of the second over.
The West Indies Masters have picked up early momentum before meeting a bump in the road in the form of the Sri Lanka Masters. They will be confident of bouncing back against a side severely low on confidence after a mammoth 137-run loss to Australia Masters. The Proteas Masters will be looking to pick up the pieces to reclaim some respect in this tournament.
The two Masters teams have only met once before way back in 2009 when most of the current teams would have been in their prime. South Africa Masters beat the West Indies by ten runs in that encounter. Both sides have had mixed results this tournament.
Legendary faces will do battle in this International Masters League match between West Indies Masters and South Africa Masters. The game is scheduled for Tuesday, 11 March 2025 at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. Catch it live in India on TV on Colours Cineplex and live-streamed on the JioHotstar app.
The West Indies Masters cricket team have a great of the game in the form of Brian Lara as their captain. The West Indian icon Lara finished with over 20000 international runs across all formats. Opening the batting, Dwayne Smith and Lendl Simmons are renowned for their aggressive stroke play to set an electrifying tone at the top of the order.
Smith has hit more than 50 runs twice this tournament, against Australia Masters and India Masters respectively. Simmons played a no-nonsense innings of 38 runs off only 13 balls in his previous IML innings.
Kirk Edwards adds stability to the lineup with his composed batting technique. The inclusion of wicketkeeper-batsman William Perkins ensures agility behind the stumps and depth to a powerful T20 batting lineup. Perkins comes off the back of a half-century against India Masters.
The middle order is fortified by Jonathan Carter and Narsingh Deonarine. Deonarine hit an important 35 runs not out against England Masters. Both are adept at accelerating when required. All-rounder Ashley Nurse offers strategic depth with his off-spin bowling and hard-hitting capabilities.
He should be a particularly dangerous bowler on this turning track. Nurse took three wickets against Australia Masters.
The bowling attack is spearheaded by the fiery pace of Jerome Taylor and Tino Best. Their speed and aggression will make batting in the powerplay uncomfortable. Between the pair they have almost 40 T20 wickets in their careers.
Sulieman Benn's left-arm spin provides variety and control to work alongside his spin twin of Nurse. The left-armer ended his T20 career with best bowling figures of four for six.
The South Africa Masters cricket team are led by the legendary Jacques Kallis. In this formidable assembly of cricketing icons is a renowned T20 player such as Henry Davids. He brings stability and flair to the batting lineup.
Wicketkeeping responsibilities are adeptly handled by Richard Levi. In the 2022 World Championship of Legends, Levi hit 60 runs against India Legends. As the IML unfolds, the South Africa Masters have showcased moments of brilliance, including a notable victory against the England Masters, where Hashim Amla's elegant strokeplay and Alviro Petersen's resilience with a half-century led them to a seven-wicket triumph.
Hashim Amla made a start with 30 runs against Australia Masters.
The dynamic presence of Jonty Rhodes and Dane Vilas adds exceptional fielding prowess. Vilas also has 4235 T20 runs with 16 half-centuries in the format. The all-round capabilities of Jacques Kallis and Ryan McLaren provide depth and versatility across all three departments.
McLaren has over 1700 runs and over 160 wickets at the end of his professional T20 career.
The bowling attack is spearheaded by the pace duo of Vernon Philander and Garnett Kruger. The Surgeon, as Vernon Philander is nicknamed, ended his T20 career eight wickets short of 100 T20 wickets.
The pacers are complemented by the spin of Thandi Tshabalala to ensure a well-rounded and potent bowling unit. The spinner has 57 T20 wickets.
The South African Masters may take a leaf out of the book of their current generation’s success in wanting to bat first. They lost their previous match after chasing a mammoth total. The West Indies may look to blast their opposition away in the first innings too.
The pitch at this Raipur venue may offer a balanced pitch that caters to the needs of both the batters and bowlers. The pacers may have some early seam movement to work with. The spinners could get the ball to grip and turn in the latter half of the innings. The batters may enjoy conditions where they can play their strokes fluently. The South African Masters only managed a low 123 all out in their previous IML match.
Tuesday in Raipur is set to be a scorcher at 37 degrees Celsius. The temperature will feel slightly humid too. The sunny conditions will not change with no chance of rain on the day.
The legends of the Caribbean could be the hot favourites for this match. They beat the Australian Masters, who the South African Masters were thumped by in their previous game. The Proteas side will be bleeding heavily after a disastrous loss by over 100 runs. The West Indians could pounce on the opportunity.
Bet on the West Indies Masters to win.
