None of the last 5 ILT20 matches played here have seen more than 13 wickets fall. The bowlers will need to work hard to get their wickets and it is unlikely that we will see some many wickets fall.
Sharjah is a high-scoring venue and the batsmen will enjoy batting here. The outfield is pretty fast and the boundaries here aren’t the longest as well. As both teams have some explosive batsmen, we are expecting at least one big over.
The MI Emirates will look to get back to winning ways as they take on the Sharjah Warriorz for match number 11 in the ongoing ILT20. The two teams will play at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
The two teams have played 2 matches against each other and both of them were won by the Emirates.
This match can be watched live on the FanCode App and Zee5 app.
With two wins in 3 matches, the Sharjah Warriorz are currently placed 2nd on the points table. They are coming into this contest on the back of an excellent win against the Dubai Capitals in a high-scoring match.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been the team’s leading run-scorer this year but he missed the previous match due to an injury. As updates regarding his availability for this game are awaited, Jason Roy and Johnson Charles are likely to open the batting in this match.
The duo gave the Warriorz a brisk start in the previous match and led the foundation for a successful chase. The middle order has some strong batsmen like Avishka Fernando and Luke Wells, as well as all-rounders like Rohan Mustafa, Karim Janat, and Keemo Paul.
Fernando was in particularly good form on Friday as he scored 81 runs from just 27 deliveries and will be the key batsman for the team. In the bowling department, skipper Tim Southee has bowled well to pick up 5 wickets.
He will be joined by Adam Milne with the new ball while the spin department will be manned by Treveen Mathew and Adil Rashid.
The MI Emirates have been a bit inconsistent so far and have managed to win only one of their three games. There are plenty of games yet to be played and the team will hope to turn things around going forward.
Muhammad Waseem and Kusal Perera have struggled to get going at the top of the order and they will have to play better going forward. On the other hand, Tom Banton and Nicholas Pooran have played well, with Pooran being the leading run-scorer for the team. He has scored 2 half-centuries in his 3 innings and is scoring runs at a strike rate of close to 170.
The Emirates have plenty of depth in their batting thanks to players like Kieron Pollard, Dan Mousley, and Romario Shepherd. In the bowling department, Fazalhaq Farooqi remains the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 7 wickets. However, he will need better support from Zahoor Khan and Allah Ghaznafar.
The performance of the spinners has been average as well, with Waqar Salamkheil picking up only 2 wickets in 3 games and Akeal Hosein remaining wicketless.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Sharjah is usually flat and hard, allowing the ball to come onto the bat. However, in this season, we have seen some grass on the surface that allows the bowlers to get some lateral movement. The batsmen will need to be a bit careful when they face the new ball. However, once the ball gets a bit older, playing shots will be easy. The team batting first will aim for the 200-run mark.
The weather will remain pleasant with temperatures of around 21 degrees.
We are backing the MI Emirates to win this match. While they haven’t been in the best of forms, they have a strong squad at their disposal. The team has plenty of depth in its batting and that could be a big plus under the conditions.
Bet on the MI Emirates to win.
