The bowlers need to work hard to pick up wickets at Sharjah. None of the 3 matches played here this season have seen more than 13 wickets fall and seeing how average the bowling from the Sharjah Warriorz has been, we expect that trend to continue.
The batsmen will enjoy batting here as there are plenty of opportunities to score runs. With some of the batsmen, especially from the Vipers’ squad in good form, we are likely to see a couple of big individual scores from them.
The Desert Vipers will look to extend their lead at the top of the points table as they take on the Sharjah Warriorz for a second time in three days. The two teams will play at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
The two teams have played 3 matches against each other. The Desert Vipers have won twice, while the Sharjah Warriorz has won once.
This match can be watched live on the FanCode App and Zee5 app.
The Sharjah Warriorz have managed to win only two of their 5 games. They are placed 5th on the points table and have the worst NRR among all teams.
The Sharjah Warriorz will need their batsmen to step up if they want to get back to winning ways. Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Johnson Charles will yet again open the batting for the Sharjah Warriorz in this match.
While both of them have scored a half-century this season, they will have to be more consistent as they face a strong bowling attack from the Vipers. Avishka Fernando started his season well but his form has seen a dip in recent games.
The others in the middle order include Luke Wells, Jason Roy, Rohan Mustafa, and Tim Seifert, but all of them are averaging under 20 runs per inning. The bowling has been underwhelming too. Tim Southee has picked up 5 wickets in as many matches, while Adam Milne has picked up 4.
With Adil Rashid back to international duties, Ashton Agar remains the only full-time spinner.
After losing their fixture against the Dubai Capitals, the Desert Vipers got back to winning ways as they defeated the Warriorz in a reverse fixture on Wednesday. With that, they have further cemented their position at the top of the points table and enjoy a 4-point lead over their nearest competitor.
Fakhar Zaman was in red-hot form in the previous game as he slammed 71 runs from just 39 balls. He and Alex Hales have emerged as the strongest opening this season and are also the leading wicket-takers for the team.
In the middle order, Sam Curran, Dan Lawrence, and Sherfane Rutherford have been pretty impressive as well and the Vipers have plenty of depth in their batting. The Desert Vipers are also home to one of the most balanced bowling units.
Mohammad Amir and Lockie Ferguson have picked up 17 wickets between them, while Wanindu Hasaranga, who is the the team’s lead spinner, has picked up 7 wickets.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The Sharjah Cricket Stadium usually offers good batting surfaces. While the new ball does provide some help to the seamers, it gets easier to bat as the overs progress. The team batting first will look to get as close to the 200-run mark as possible because it is easier for the team batting second to score runs.
The weather will remain clear and sunny with temperatures of around 23 degrees.
We are backing the Desert Vipers to win here. They are the strongest teams around and the comprehensive win in their last match will have only boosted their confidence. The Sharjah Warriorz have plenty of issues to sort out and will find it difficult to bounce back here.
Bet on the Desert Vipers to win.
