The pitch at Dubai is flat and is good to bat on. The outfield here is quite fast as well and the boundaries here aren’t the longest. We are therefore likely to see plenty of 4s being scored.
James Vince is the leading run-scorer of ILT20. He has scored 795 runs at an average of 37.85. We are therefore expecting a good knock from him.
The 3rd edition of the ILT2 is set to get underway this weekend. The Gulf Giants will kick-off their campaign on Sunday as they take on the Sharjah Warriorz at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 2 matches and both have been won by the Gulf Giants.
This match can be watched live on the Zee Network and Zee5 app.
The Gulf Giants were the champions in the inaugural season of ILT20 and made it to Qualifier 2 last season. As they begin a fresh journey, the Giants will be eager to make a positive start.
The team once again will be led by James Vince. He is the leading run-scorer of the league and brings in plenty of experience in the T20 format. He could be joined by Ibrahim Zadran at the top of the order.
There are quite a few explosive batsmen in the middle order including Adam Lyth, Shimron Hetmeyer, and Dipendra Singh Airee. Gerhard Erasmus and Aayan Afzal Khan could feature in the playing XI as all-rounders.
The Gulf Giants have a strong contingent of seamers at their disposal including bowlers like Blessing Muzarabani, Dominic Drakes, Mark Adair, Chris Jordan, and Tymal Mills. Muhammad Zuhaib is the only full-time spinner included in the squad.
The Sharjah Warriorz haven’t been consistent in their performance during the last two seasons and have finished at the bottom third of the table on both occasions. The team management has made some changes to the squad as they prepare to put up a better performance.
The biggest change comes with the inclusion of Tim Southee, who will make his debut in the league this year and will also captain the side. Southee has plenty of experience playing international cricket across formats and will add an edge to the seam attack.
Southee will have the support of Junaid Siddique, Gus Atkinson, Dilshan Madushanka, and Muhammad Jawadullah while Adil Rashid retains his place in the squad along with Peter Hatzoglou.
The Warriorz boast of a strong batting line-up that will be headlined by Matthew Wade, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Kusal Mendis, and Bhanuka Rajapaksa. While there are plenty of talented individuals, the Warriorz will have to play better as a team if they want to win here.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch at Dubai is on the dry side and there will not be a lot of grass. While the new ball may swing a bit, there is no alarming movement and the batsmen will enjoy batting here. The spinners will come into action once the ball gets a bit older.
The team batting first will look to score around 180 runs. The weather will be clear with temperatures of around 22 degrees.
We are backing the Gulf Giants to win this match. They have an unbeaten record against the Sharjah Warriorz and will be coming in with plenty of confidence. That said, the Warriorz will likely put up a good fight.
Bet on the Gulf Giants to win.
