Adam Rossington and Shai Hope make up for a strong opening pair. They have given the team some strong starts this year. On the other hand, the top order for the Vipers, especially Gurbaz, is yet to get going. We are therefore backing the Capitals to put up the bigger total during the PowerPlay.
After a month of intense cricket, we have reached the culmination of the 3rd season of the ILT20 being played in the UAE. The Dubai Capitals will take on the Desert Vipers for the ultimate prize on Sunday at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The two teams have faced each other in 5 games and all of them have been won by the Capitals.
This match can be watched live on the FanCode App and Zee5 App.
This is the second consecutive year that Dubai has made it to the finals of the ILT20. Last year, they were defeated by MI Emirates but the team will hope to put up a better performance this time around.
Shai Hope has been the most prolific scorer for the Dubai Capitals this year, scoring 3 half-centuries and a century. He has been excellent at the top of the order and will look to give his team another good start. His opening partner, Adam Rossington, has played well in the last couple of matches.
Gulbadin Naib is another consistent performer, with both, the bat and the ball. He has scored 376 runs and has also picked up 11 wickets. Dasun Shanaka, Rovman Powell, and Sam Billings have also chipped in with valuable runs, making the Capitals one of the strongest batting units in the league.
The Dubai Capitals also have a strong pace attack. Dushmantha Chameera is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 13 wickets, while Naib and Obed McCoy have picked up 11 wickets each.
Qais Ahmed has been brilliant during the middle overs in the last couple of games and will lead the spin department along with Sikandar Raza.
The Desert Vipers were the most consistent team during the group stages and finished at the top of the points table. However, their form dipped over the last week and they had to take the longer route to the finals. Nevertheless, the team will look to make one last push and will try to lift their first silverware.
Alex Hales and Rahmanullah Gurbaz make up for an explosive opening pair. While Gurbaz has been dismissed for single-digit scores in both of his outings, he is a quality batsman who can change the course of the game during the Powerplay.
Max Holden, Sam Curran, and Dan Lawrence make up for a strong middle order, with Sherfane Rutherford and Azam Khan coming in lower down to play the role of a finisher. Coming to the bowling, Lockie Ferguson has picked up an injury and could be unavailable for this match.
This will leave Mohammad Amir as the lead pace bowler for the team. Amir has bowled well to pick up 12 wickets. He will be joined by Khuzaima Tanveer and David Payne.
Wanindu Hasaranga might also be unavailable for this game and will be replaced by Nathan Sowter.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bowl first.
The pitch in Dubai is likely to be dry and devoid of any grass. The flat surface offers a good pace and bounce, allowing the batsmen to strike the ball. Despite the dry conditions, the spinners haven’t got much help at this venue. The team batting first will look to score at least 180-190 runs.
The weather will remain cloudy with temperatures of around 21 degrees.
The Dubai Capitals and the Desert Vipers are two of the strongest teams in the league and fully deserve a place in the finals. There is very little separating the two teams at this stage and there is no clear favorite to win. Nevertheless, we feel that the Dubai Capitals have an edge in this contest thanks to a strong opening pair and a well-balanced bowling attack.
Bet on the Dubai Capitals to win.
