The pitch at Abu Dhabi isn’t the easiest for the bowlers. Only two of the last 5 matches played here have seen 14 or more wickets fall. We are expecting that trend to continue.
Both teams have some strong batsmen and a few of them are in good form. The Sheikh Zayed Stadium provides the batsmen plenty of opportunities to score runs. 3 of the last 5 matches played here have seen at least one score of 67 or above and we reckon that we will see one in this match as well.
The Dubai Capitals will look to extend their winning momentum in the ongoing ILT20 tournament as they face Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. The two teams will clash on Sunday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
The two teams have played 3 matches against each other. The Dubai Capitals have won two of those games while the Knight Riders have won once.
This match can be watched live on the FanCode App and Zee5 app.
The Abu Dhabi Knight scored a massive victory over MI Emirates on Friday and moved to the 3rd spot on the table.
The batting from the Knight Riders hasn’t been the best and that is something the team will have to work on. Andries Gous and Kyle Mayers are likely to open the batting for the team in this match. While both of them are good strikers of the ball, they have yet to show their best form.
Alishan Sharafu has been the most consistent with the bat and is the leading run-scorer for the Knight Riders. He will have the support of Michael Pepper and Charith Asalanka in the middle order while Andre Russell, Roston Chase, and Jason Holder add depth to the batting.
Holder has bowled brilliantly and has picked up 12 wickets. He is well-supported by Kyle Mayers and David Willey in the pace department. On the other hand, while Sunil Narine has been economical, he has managed to pick up only two wickets in 6 games.
After a shaky start to the season, the Dubai Capitals seem to have found some sort of form over the last few days. They are coming into this contest on the back of consecutive victories and have climbed to the 4th place on the table.
Shai Hope has been very consistent at the top of the order and is the leading run-scorer of this season. He is averaging 52.00 runs in 6 innings and holds the key for his team. However, his opening partner Ben Dunk has struggled during the PowerPlay and the team will expect him to play better.
The Dubai Capitals have some explosive batsmen in the middle order including Khalid Shah, Rovman Powell, and Najibullah Zadran. The all-rounders, especially Gulbadin Naib, have contributed well with the bat and the ball.
Naib is the joint-highest wicket-taker for the team and has also scored 130 runs at a strike rate of 141.30. He will be joined by Dushmantha Chameera and Obed McCoy in the pace department. The spinners however will need to bowl better.
The team winning the toss will likely opt to bat first.
The pitch in the Sheikh Zayed Stadium has an even covering of grass. The new ball darts around and the batsmen will need to choose their shots wisely during the Powerplay. As the ball gets older, playing shots will get easier. The team batting first will look to score around 175-180 runs.
The surface gets a bit slow and low during the second innings but the spinners have to be accurate with their line and length. The weather is clear and sunny with temperatures of around 22 degrees.
While both teams have seen some ups and downs in their journey so far, we feel that Dubai Capitals have a slight edge. A couple of their batsmen are in good form and the team also has a strong pace attack.
Bet on the Dubai Capitals to win.
