This should be a relatively straightforward bet to choose. The West Indies have crossed the 35-run mark on all three occasions of the first three T20Is. They may be likely to do so again with their powerful batting lineup.
The total runs in each of the opening three T20I matches have been 365, 319 and 294 runs respectively. This should be a safe bet looking at the trend of total runs in the match slowly decreasing. The last of those scores was at the same venue as this match.
The hosts have really struggled to maintain a foothold in this T20I series, with England’s batting wiping the floor with whatever the West Indies bowlers have thrown at them. The English batting lineup has produced notable performances across numerous batters in the lineup to highlight their strength in depth. The West Indies will still need more firepower from their batters. To the Caribbean side’s credit, their loss in the third T20I went down to the last over.
They are showing signs of a team that can compete.
England have been untouchable in the first three T20Is of the series after winning those three games in a row. The loss in the fourth T20 appears to be a blip on the radar. They have conquered the Caribbean this series and will be looking to inflict further pain in their last game of the white-ball tour.
This final T20I of the series between West Indies and England will take place at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium on Sunday, 17 November 2024. You can follow the game on the FanCode app if you're in India.
The West Indies T20I side are led by Rovman Powell. He top-scored for West Indies with 54 runs off 41 balls in the third T20I. The opening batting duo of Evin Lewis and Shai Hope provide a balance of power and touch. Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer and Roston Chase form the middle-order and will be ready to explode in the shortest format of international cricket.
The team's bowling attack is spearheaded by Alzarri Joseph who provides electric pace. Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie provide variation with their left-arm spin. Hosein’s left-arm orthodox in game three was by far the best bowling of the West Indian attack.
He claimed bowling figures of four for 22 in four overs. Romario Shepherd and Terrance Hinds offer all-round skills with both bat and ball.
The West Indies will need to spring a surprise in this match to avoid an embarrassment at home. If they can click as a unit, the West Indies will be a force to be reckoned with in Caribbean conditions.
The England cricket team are ably captained by Jos Buttler with an explosive lineup of talented stroke-makers like himself. Phil Salt and Will Jacks are two aggressive batters to watch in the powerplay. Buttler is one of the world's most destructive batters.
Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone provide additional firepower in the middle-order. Sam Curran adds variation with his left-arm medium-fast bowling and left-handed boundary-striking. Jacks, Livingstone and Curran all got starts of 32, 41 and 39 with the bat in the third T20I.
Jofra Archer and Saqib Mahmood have formed a threatening pace duo. Archer's express speed and ability to unsettle batters make him a game-changer in limited-overs formats. Mahmood's accuracy and movement provide a valuable complement. He has constantly picked up wickets this series, with another three wickets in the third T20I.
Jamie Overton joined him with three wickets in the same game. England are trusting Rehan Ahmed’s leg-spin to do the job in the middle overs. He is a capable substitute to Adil Rashid.
England have already outplayed the West Indies for a great deal of this T20I series. They have yet another opportunity to hammer the nail in the coffin. Both captains will play an aggressive brand of T20I cricket.
The biggest difference has been the ability to back up intelligence with aggression which has been on show from England.
This white-ball tour has been driven by the toss. Every game of the ODI series and the first three games of the T20I series have all been won by the team winning the toss and electing to bowl first. This final showdown at Gros Islet may be no different with both teams wanting to bowl first.
Much like the third and fourth T20Is, the fifth T20I will also take place at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium. In the third T20I, both teams lost a cluster of wickets. The West Indies were 39 for five after six overs and England were 42 for three after six overs. Conditions may be difficult for batting inside the powerplay.
Batters may need to be watchful in the first six overs to give themselves a platform to launch from once the fielding restrictions are lifted. The seamers may be most effective on this pitch, but the batters may have a bit to work with too.
There is a 23 percent chance of rain on Sunday. Showers may be prominent throughout the day. Temperatures will be hot and humid.
The English seem likely to put on another emphatic display on West Indian soil, as has been the case throughout this T20I series. Jos Buttler’s side have been delightful to watch with bat and ball. They have mixed T20I intelligence with brute force in their batting. By contrast, the West Indies have struggled to be smart with the bat, despite numerous bashers of a cricket ball in their batting lineup.
Bet on England to win.
