The Capitals started like a house on fire in their previous game. They hit nine runs in their opening over against the Tigers, including a first ball boundary. This may be worth the bet.
This is quite a risky bet, but may bring huge rewards. The Dhaka Capitals opened their account in the previous game with a four on the first ball of their innings. There is always the chance of the ball going to the boundary if the openers play with hard hands against a moving new ball and plenty of gaps towards the boundary inside the powerplay.
The Rangpur Riders have looked they want to continue where they left off in 2024 in the hopes of improving on their luck in the knockout phase. They had a brilliant league campaign last year. Dhaka was disappointing last season and have struggled to show many signs of improvement this year.
The Riders and the Capitals have met once this season. The Rangpur Riders won that game by 40 runs and have looked formidable since then too. Rangpur ended top of the table and Dhaka ended bottom of the table in 2024.

Alex Hales brings immense experience and aggression at the top. His reach and wide arsenal of shots will make him a tricky customer to keep quiet. He fell one run short of a half-century against the Fortune Barishal, but was nonetheless a crucial part of their victory.
Azizul Hakim and Tawfique Khan are promising talents who will be eager to prove their worth. Saif Hassan is another exciting star for the future looking to prove his capabilities in the middle-order. The right-hander was the star of the show against the reigning champions for his 62 runs not out.
The middle-order is mainly packed with power-hitters like Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah. The Pakistani pair are well-known for their ability to clear the boundary ropes with ease. They also claimed two and three wickets against Barishal with their spin bowling.
Nurul Hasan, the captain and wicketkeeper, brings leadership and tactical acumen from behind the stumps and at the crease. The 31-year-old has more than 1300 runs in his BPL career.
The bowling unit is diverse. Mahedi Hasan provides a valuable spin option alongside his big-hitting lower-order batting contributions. Kamrul Islam and Nahid Rana lead the pace attack, particularly in swinging and seaming conditions.
Young fast bowler Rana took impressive bowling figures of four for 27 versus the Sylhet Strikers. Experienced bowler Islam has taken his best T20 bowling figures of four for ten in the BPL. Akif Javed adds further depth to the pace department.
The Capitals are led by the experienced Sri Lankan Thisara Perera. At the top of the order, Litton Das will look to provide fireworks in the powerplay alongside young talent Tanzid Hasan. Both are exciting batters, but will want to show more than glimpses against one of the best teams in the competition. Hasan has hit one century and two half-centuries in his BPL career.
The middle-order is anchored by Stephen Eskinazi. He has played numerous years of T20 domestic cricket in England. The English batter has more than 3000 T20 runs. Shahadat Hossain adds a fearless, attacking mindset. All-rounders Shubham Ranjane and captain Thisara Perera both play key roles in lengthening the batting and bowling lineups.
The batting unit failed miserably in their previous innings, except for the stellar innings of 103 not out off 60 balls from Thisara Perera.
In the spin department, Chaturanga de Silva and Nazmul Islam provide variety and control with their left-arm orthodox spin. The pace attack is spearheaded by Mustafizur Rahman, who remains a game-changer with his cutters and variations.
The left-armer is ably supported by Abu Jayed and Alauddin Babu. Bangladeshi fast bowler Abu Jayed has best BPL bowling figures of four for 35. The entire Capitals bowling unit claimed at least one wicket each with Chaturanga de Silva taking two in the team’s previous match against the Khulna Tigers.
Eight of the 12 matches in Sylhet in 2024 resulted in the team winning the toss electing to bowl first. Both captains in this match may see that as their better option too.
The pitch may be quite dry. The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium pitch generally offers good assistance to spinners during day matches. While the surface tends to be slow, batters can still grind out run-scoring opportunities with proper shot selection.
The Khulna Tigers scored 160 for six in 20 overs against the Rangpur Riders in the first innings of the first match at Sylhet last season.
The matchday weather is expected to be hot and very humid with no chance of rain on the day. This may be somewhat physically challenging to play in, but there should be a full game on the cards.
These two teams were separated by 40 runs when they met earlier this season. Rangpur had a strong league season last year, which contrasted the torrid fortunes of Dhaka. The Rangpur Riders have had the better of the Dhaka side and that may continue this time around. The Riders have also started unbeaten in their first four games. They will start as favorites.
Bet on Rangpur Riders to win this match.
